Here's the line up from my Hop's Club last night

Order of the beers:

1. Fields of Gold by Three Rings Brewery
  • Wheat Beer as the style (4.6% ABV)
  • Light beer, would try again
2. Wilderness by Alaskan Brewing
  • Blonde Ale is the style (5% ABV)
  • This was a nice refreshing beer definitely on that summer crush list
3. Kentucky Tangerine Cream Ale by Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co.
  • Cream Ale is the style (5.5% ABV)
  • Probably the first beer I've had from this Company that I didn't really care for. Came off like a stale cream soda
4. Some Beach by Walnut River Brewing
  • Fruited Sour is the style (5.9% ABV)
  • I'm not a fan of sours so I can't really give an opinion on this one. It wasn't an aggressive sour and the almost 6% could sneak on you
5. More S'mores by Boulevard Brewing
  • Imperial Stout is the style (8.2% ABV)
  • This was a good beer on the sweet side, so would go well with desert. But, not something you would want multiples of in a night.
6. Amber by Dead Armadillo Craft Brewing
  • Red Ale is the style (6.3% ABV)
  • I like Red's but this was a miss, can't really place what I would compare the taste to, but it didn't work for me
7. DinoBits by Weldwerks Brewing/collab with Toppling Goliath
  • Hazy Double IPA is the style (8.2% ABV)
  • This was on the fruitier side of the IPA's so still hoppy but smooth and easy drinking. Strong citrus flavors
8. Duvel by Duvel Moortgat
  • Belgian Golden Ale is the style (8.5% ABV)
  • I don't particularly enjoy Belgian styles but this wasn't bad.

I think the DinoBits was probably my favorite beer of the evening that we tried.

Today's Tall Can selection is:

Outer Range Mountain Mirror. Style is West Coast IPA and the ABV is 6.7%. It was the last can they had for this at the store. So I could only get the single, but I definitely would've picked up the 4 or 6 pack if they had it. After trying it definitely would've liked to have been able to have a few more in the fridge.

Summerslam Saturday Night Tall Can

Kros Strain Brewing Premium Pilsner. The ABV is 5%. I couldn't find what I was originally lookin for at Total Wine today. So just grabbed this. Came as a 4 pack got em on sale for around $8 bucks. Clean, and smooth. Definitely one that you want ice cold. It taste better poured into a glass than it did in the can.

im not a super picky drinker, i just want a buzz. liquor hurts my body too much though, so i just grab 3-4 high powered IPA tall cans and maybe a little pint of jameson from time to time. i like the yeasty/hoppy flavors of IPA. a lot of those beers are 8-10% ABV, and they actually taste good?

i remember the days of steel reserve, st ides, and olde english HG 800. my dumb ass actually got some coqui 900 shipped to me from pennsylvania (i wanted to try it because of schoolly d. it was horrible lol). buying beer in tall cans is cool cause i can try 3-4 different brands/flavors at a time. i usually try local stuff cause theres so much variety, but ill settle for voodoo ranger if they dont have anything better :yeshrug:

the only thing im really not into are those super fruity IPAs. beer should not taste like strawberries.. or cream

Beer Day at one of my local spots so I decided to stop in and see what was there. Came out with the

Habesha Cold Gold style is a Pale Lager and ABV is 5%. Company was started by some Ethiopian Brehs

Packaging caught my eye immediately so I knew I was leaving with at least this one. Smooth and easy drinking. Will definitely pick up a few more times in case the store stops carrying them.

Well it was beer day again. And I gotta pass one of my spots on the way home. So I picked up

Red Horse from San Miguel Brewery. Got this at Craft prices but this shyt is a fukkin steel reserve in disguise!!

I mean I guess it's a lager but that motherfukkin Bull from Schlitz might as well run up in here 8% abv so it's a malt liquor. Darker than a Bud Ice but I feel it vibes with a Bud Ice. I loved Bud Ice back in college. Like from the bottle it didn't have that ice/metallic flavor was even kind of sweet. And this is like that but definitely a heavier alcohol level not as sweet on the finish. If you want something with an extra kick, that's not skunky and smooth drinking. This fits the bill.

Had Hop's club tonight so here's the recap:

32v6HHEH_o.jpg

Order of the beers:

1. Berry Patch Fandango by Toppling Goliath Brewing Co.
  • Fruited Sour (5.3% ABV)
  • Pours darker/heavier than it tastes, the sour is prominent but not overwhelming. I don't like sours so I wouldn't drink again.
2. Oktoberfest Lager by Upslope Brewing Company
  • Festbier is the style (5.5% ABV)
  • Wasn't ready for the fall beers to start rolling out, but this went down really easy
3. Pumpkin Coffee Porter by Zipline Brewing Co.
  • Coffee-Porter is the style (6% ABV)
  • I got the pumpkin notes on the backend, a few of my friends tasted it on the initial sip, but the coffee flavor is overpowering and comes off burnt.
4. Night Owl Pumpkin Ale by Elysian Brewing Co.
  • Pumpkin/Yam is the style (6.7% ABV)
  • Too early for a pumpkin beer for me, but hits all the traditional notes of the style, too much cinnamon for my tastes wouldn't try again.
5. Strawgator by Abita Brewing Co
  • Bock is the style (8% ABV)
  • Abita really does a good job implementing Strawberry into their beers no matter the style. This one with the ABV could sneak you.
6. Bourbon Barrel Tart Cherry Wheat by Lexington Brewing Co
  • Fruited Wheat Beer is the style (8% ABV)
  • The only other Cherry wheat that I can recall off the top of my head is Sam Adams, and this is more wine like vs the cough syrup vibe of the SA.
7. Never Say Double IPA by KC Bier Co.
  • Hazy Double IPA is the style (8 ABV)
  • Only local option on the deck tonight, pretty standard DIPA nothing of note. Would likely drink again.
8. Where the Blueberries Grow by Martin House Brewing Co
  • Cream Ale/DIPA is the style (10% ABV)
  • The flavor profile on this was leaning sour and I just didn't fukk with it.

The Oktoberfest from Upslope is probably the best Oktoberfest I've had in some time. It's the closest I would rank to Port City's Oktoberfest. Which is by far my favorite Oktoberfest beer I've ever had. And it's still a few notches below Port City's. I don't drink a ton of this style in the fall, but if I go to a watch party for a game or fight this will likely be in the rotation for what I will bring in to share.

That Strawgator by Abita is also a beer I'll probably drink a few more times.

I need another run at that Tart Cherry to see how I really feel about it. The rest not likely to go through again.

I like that artwork. We get a few beers from Indiana over here, but I'm not sure I've seen anything from them. I'll be on the lookout though.

For today's Tall Can Saturday went with a local brewery and picked up the Luck of the Cats by Manhattan Brewing Company. Style is Irish Cream Ale, and ABV is 4.8%.

Smooth, easy drinking. Definitely something you can sit back and enjoy the game with. Wildcats didn't have the luck on their side today though lol.
