So then how can you espouse people following it? :dahell: It's not about changing QBs for the hell of it, it's about not handcuffing your team to QBs that aren't elite and thusly requiring elite contributions, that they are unable to provide. Most QBs can win for you if you put the right squad around them and take the pressure off them.

its the reality of the sport. With a hard salary cap its virtually impossible to build a sustainable awesome defense unless your draft perfectly. The only team that's really done this is Seattle and even they won the QB lottery. Look at the coaches who have had the longest tenure and look who their QB is. It's not a coincidence. I agree handcuffing your team to a Rivers or Tannehill is probably stupid.

yeah, ocs have an easier path to head coaching gigs than dcs right now.

i don't think it's THAT skewed though. the top dcs seem to land head coaching gigs every year.

last year, there were 3 rookie head coaches and 2 of them were dcs. the year before, 2/4 were dcs.

Beli- Brady
Lewis- Palmer/Dalton
McCarthey- ARod
Payton- Brees
Tomlin- Ben
Harbaugh- Flacco

You got 2 elite QBs and one that recently ascended while the team was descending in Ben.

Carroll and Rivera can be added at this point. Fisher's the only guy who hasnt won and kept his job.

People need to check the coaches who've won Super Bowl AND College championships in the past 20 years. It's primarily former DCs who've done it. It's fukking mind boggling to me that someone hasn't hit up the Pats DC for a coaching position or the Cards DC

Exactly, GOAT Saban was the Browns DC in the 90s

Yet you have been sitting here defending and espousing a thought process that pushes teams away from doing so.

Not really. I've just been explaining the reality of the sport with rules and a salary cap that benefit offense.

With the way the NFL is now you expect this.

I was going to male a similar thread but it was going to involve minority coaches. I was wondering how many DIFFERENT minorities actually got INTERVIEWED because we see only on got hired and there we're what six vacancies? Just a thought.

And every explanation that you have provided has been debunked :heh: so how exactly is that reality?

You haven't debunked anything. There isnt a team in the league who's had legit sustainable success without the QB in place. The Bengals havent won a playoff game since the 80's. When you have a quarterback you know you can win with, it's a lot easier to not overpay at other positions.
Seattle and New England (the two most successful teams over the last 5 years) are prime examples of this. The Steelers, who've been to 3 Super Bowls in the last 10 years would be the other...and they never overpay.

Move those goal posts and change that subject why don't you :mjlol:. None of those teams you listed won following the philosophy dictated by the so-called reality that you want to claim exists with no basis (save maybe the Pats last year and defense was still pretty important for them as well).
