No it isn't what our religion teaches.
Our deen teaches us if someone fights you, you must defend yourself. But do not be aggressors. God does not love the aggressors.
My parents come from a country where its 99% Muslim and there was a civil war for 20+ years not on religion but on clannism, land, resources, collapse of government, etc. A few years back some Islamic Courts pacify the place, then the Ethiopians invade, and Al-Shabaab gets radicalized because of it and attracts new recruits to fight for their "Cause" then once they realize they're just killing other Muslims they try to leave but then get killed.

IMO the real Muslims are the extremists are the real followers of Allah. Islam does not allow "controversial parts" to be interpreted. The Arabic text is told by followers not to modify it and take it as it is. So of course the following can't be blamed when they are practicing something written in stonage age times in the 21st century.
This is expected. This "killing in the name of Allah" is not stopping anytime soon. It's part of what the religion is.
