You're setting us up for Yankee problems, i.e. poor roster construction. Multiple players who you would prefer to be the DH playing the field in a couple of seasons. Alonso, Nimmo and Soto are liabilities in the field and it's only going to get worse. We already gave Nimmo and Soto long term deals. Pete is the odd man out.
McNeil didn't hit at all the second half of the year. Plus throwing a tantrum every time you make an out brings the vibes down.

I still like McNeil, but it's time. He's one of the rare Mets development wins and has had a good career. I'd argue for keeping him more if we didn't have so many obvious defensive holes. Can't combat (-) defense with mid, only with (+) defense and his offense the last 3 years has basically been average.

I wouldn't be surprised.

SD has all those backloaded contracts, and no motion. They just lost Darvish forever too.

With the way they're set up right now, Tatis is kinda the only asset worth moving that could bring them back some value.

The chatter about the Alonso talks and what Diaz is seeking is making me hope things get done earlier than expected. I don't expect Alonso to sign early but I'll feel way more confident about it going forward if we knock out the Diaz deal this month or early next month.

I’ve got a feeling that if Alonso doesn’t sign early, then he won’t be a Met. I don’t think Stearns waits for him like he did last year.
