Album was mid but Dr. Carter is my favorite Lil Wayne song. One of the dopest concept tracks ever, and he was rapping his ass off, just a pure showcase of his technical skill. He barely even cursed on that song.

This is one of those albums that I might be able to call mid retroactively, but seeing as I graduated HS in 2008 this album is a certified classic.

Too many experiences are tied to this album.

I never understood why people hyped this album up or tried to call it an instant classic. And this isn’t revisionist history either.
It’s an instant classic because of the heights it reached. A rapper will probably never be as big…1M first week, the album was being played everywhere.

People saying C3 was underwhelming, which you could argue is true, but then the very next year on Halloween he dropped No Ceilings :wow:

That was the last of prime Weezy for me. It was my freshman year of college and the entire was bumping that shyt for what felt like a few months :wow:

It was the mainstream introduction to Wayne. It was very hyped and had enough hits to carry that narrative

In an era where albums still mattered a bit, he needed a stamp to solidify him as a mainstream star. This served that purpose for him

I agree that it was a major step down from Carter 1 and 2, and went in a different direction than the leaks which sounded more like the first two

I still feel like he was rapping well on C3 and hadn't actually fallen off just yet... Enter Rebirth and all that bullshyt

if you pull off half the tracks and replace them with other songs that didn't make the album but were recorded around the same time, you can make a fire playlist. that's what used to be in my car back then. :manny:
