The Carter 3 was some heat. But it just had the unfortunate timing of dropping when the Recession came out. Especially after Obama won. Everyone was bumping my President :blessed:

Was a really fun album. Bought first day, played the fukk out of it. Definitely not the Carter 2 but it was an easy listen.

As far as theme’s it was all over the place. But production wise it blended together very well. It was perfect for driving around and playing front to back. It was perfect for drinking and playing 2k with friends. It was even perfect for playing around the hoes.

It wasn’t a lyrical masterpiece, just fun and streamlined. It was also cool to see Wayne lean into silly or outside the box concepts like “mrs. officer” and “Dr. Carter”.

Hell no.

That's lowkey the worst Carter now that I think about it.

Cringe Big Sean tier punchlines, even less cohesion than C3 somehow, cheesy pop songs, a watered down version of a Ross classic, "interludes" that he doesn't even rap on, and no depth at all.

It's the most cookie cutter and phoned in album in the series.
C4 had heat on it and I thought C5 was good too especially at that stage of his career but C6 is clearly the worst :francis:

The first Carter is the best one and one of the best dope boy albums in rap imo

Actually all of Wayne's albums were.......underwhelming. He's better as a mixtaoe artist where he's just spittin.

His style of rap (punch and bar heavy) is VERY difficult to make an album with substance. He's like a southern redman.

It takes someone like Sean P to pull off. And Sean can do it because he's transparent with his demons and emotions. Able to laugh at himself.

Wayne us a NEern rapper in a southern body and trying to play the 50. He would kill ot if he was part of some mid 90s NY groups.

it’s the album that cacs officially discovered him on thanks to that lolipop bullshyt so they think it’s his best

same way they think graduation was kanye’s best even tho it was worse than his first two albums

Cause the hot boys wasn't on TRL as the hip hop boy band equivalents with video running next to NSYNC, back street boys, limp Bizkit, Christina and Britney??? Lol... White girls loved tha block is hot Wayne.

But prime Wayne had stuntin like my daddy and did the hook for make it rain all 2006ish which were popular before Carter 3 dropped.

Maybe a few white dudes didn't know 04-07 Wayne...but white girls definitely knew Wayne.

I’ve said it was overrated since the day it dropped. The recession and Nas Untitled were the best rap albums to drop that year.

But I’ll be lying if I said people are re-writing history. That damn album hit like a hurricane and most said it was an instant classic. I still think it’s overrated but I’ll be lying if I said it wasn’t objectively a classic. It had too much impact and til this day the majority say it’s a classic even though C1 and C2 are miles better
Yeah I still remember being out in LA and every other song was a Wayne song being played. Had like five different tracks off C3 in rotation plus a few features. I didn't think it was as good as C1 or C2 but that album was getting hyped like crazy.

The leaked songs ruined the actual release of The Carter 3. All the beat songs were leaked way before so if you were a rap fan, you were disappointed there wasn't anything really new

Was a fun album and time to be a music fan though :ehh:

Never will forget Wayne killing features and verses non stop. Dropping Da Drought 3. Everything on his run killing the game :banderas:

The moment was better than the album itself as far as quality, that was probably his crowning moment so to speak. I feel like his feature run during those days what put it over the top too. Wayne had my friends and I as jits in a chokehold on those DJ Khaled posse cuts, Duffle bag boy feature, Drought mixtape, etc we were eating.
