I mean, Beli is the goat and his coaching tree is trash.

But to answer your question, the Rodney's are notoriously cheap (cheapest staff/facilities in the league), so a lot of the coordinators have been unimpressive internal hires.
The Steelers are the Walmart of the NFL

Bellichek isn’t the goat. He comes from the Parcells tree.

Bellichek, Coughlin, Payton - all SB winning coaches from his tree. Parcells two rings with two different QB’s with the Giants and the work he did with the Pats, Jets and Cowboys puts him at the top in my opinion. Outside of Brady, most of the guys Bellichek won those first 3 titles with were all guys Parcells brought in. Bellichek is a great coach but Brady was the primary reason for those SB.

Only Coach I’d maybe rank over Parcells would be Walsh.
I think Gibbs is criminally underrated. He won 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QBs, none of whom were hall of famers.

His 1991 team is one of the best teams of all time.

I do agree Parcells had a lot of those great defensive players that were the backbone of this first 3 rings (besides Harrison in the final 2 of those 3 and Vrabel) I do think that the D was more responsible than Brady was at that time.

Where would you rank Joe Gibbs? 3 SB wins with 3 different QBs and even came back after a 12 year absence and made the playoffs 2 out of 4 years.

I think Gibbs is at least top 5 of all time.

In terms of influence(the WCO is the basis of how the game is played still), coaching, drafting and a coaching tree - I can't see how Walsh isn't the best coach of all time

Didn’t Bruce Arians come from Pittsburgh? And Beli has a better coaching tree from his time with the Browns than his 20+ years in NE.

Good question. I grew up a Cowboy fan so I’m familiar with those redskin teams. You have to rank Gibbs right up there as well. Anytime you win multiple SB with different QB’s that speaks to an outstanding philosophy and the coaching to go with it. It’s a shame his name isn’t brought up more.

That’s my only knock against Bellichek. He had that 11-5 year with Cassell, but all of his success came with Brady. Then Brady went on to another title without him. Without Brady I think he’d be recognized as one of the all time defensive minds, but I wonder what his legacy as a HC would be.

Yeah now that I’m thinking about it I’d have Walsh 1 and Parcells 1A. Walsh has a nasty coaching tree. Holmgren, Shanahan, Seifort, Wyche, Dennis Green, Ray Rhodes, etc.. Never lost a SB. Excellent personnel man and X’s and O’s coach.

I don't think anyone would consider Arians under a hypothetical Tomlin coaching tree. He was the Browns offensive coordinator before he ever came to Pittsburgh. He was with other NFL teams under various coaching positions before the Browns as well.

*edit*
I think I may have misread your post as you saying Arians is under a Tomlin coaching tree and not an impressive hire.

I just knew he was the OC under Tomlin when he first got hired, but I see he was already with the Steelers and Tomlin promoted him.

Unless you're Bill Belichick. I mean he didn't quite get 4 in a decade but 6 in 18 years and he still got bushed
the Rooneys and Kraft are very different types of owners

the Steelers have had three head coaches since 1969. I just looked it up and the Patriots had 14 in that timespan. Rooneys are clearly a lot more committed to organizational stability and consistency.
