For what? He wants to be in NYC not Cleveland. And that is too much to give up for a chucking undersized 2 guard that doesn't defend.

When you have 3 years left on your deal, it kinda doesn't matter what you want. Cleveland knew that and still traded for him. Risky, but it's not as if Mitchell is gonna hold out. He got half his wish. The other half is up to him in 3 years. He better hope the Knicks keep that p*ssy tight and wait for him.

Yall severely overstate on the ball defense. The league is basically screens, switches, 3s, and layups. Elite defense is not needed from that backcourt to succeed. Plus, elite players are going get theirs anyway. Its a team game.
Ask Rudy Gobert how overrated a guard being able to stay in front of his man is. Being a turnstile forces your defense into rotation way sooner and more often in a possession and increases the chance of a breakdown somewhere. How do you think teams generate 3’s and layups :jbhmm:

The Cavs have a championship roster
I was at the Nets/Cavs play in game. Garland had to work soooo hard to get buckets, all he needed was someone else who could do something scoring wise and they would've beat the Nets. I think this is a great deal for them.
