Cavs pulled a coup... on a division opponent nonetheless.

They already matched up physically with Miami and Indiana, just lacked the scoring and experience to win late in games. Deng helps big time in both areas.

What a glorious trade. Dion bout to feast off this move.

do you NOT realize that without their best player for the 2nd consecutive year, and with them being capped, out, there was no way to get better other than to flip assets for draft picks or cheaper players?

also, they went balls out last year without rose (mind you everyone was a year younger) and still got smashed by the heat. so who wants to relive that again? especially when you can potentially get significantly better with just one season of being :trash:

revisionist history.

They went balls out last year???? Do you not remember Deng was hurt, Dunleavy has shown > Marco (in the regular season), and I believe Noah wasn't bothered by the foot. So no, they did not go balls out last year.

They had several ways to get better

1. Mirotic (after Boozer amnesty)
2. Draft picks
3. Charlotte draft pick

instead - we trade our best player for basically a Cav draft pick that will probably be worst than the Bulls Draft pick and 2 2nd rounders , which we know probably has no value. People are applauding the move but the right decision would have been to pay Deng the 12-14 mil and keep it moving. Didn't even get Dion out of this move, smh!

i think it was a really good trade for the Cavs if their objective is to still make the playoffs

if they miss the playoffs and deng bounces... ugh. that would be rough but at least they are trying to win some games

obviously i like the trade for the bulls just because i want to see us have a high pick, they need to lose some damn games now

I like the deal for both teams as well. And I think the Cavs do this deal because they want to re-sign Deng. The market for lower high tier and middle tier SFs is really small.

The Cavs other options this summer are Turner, Granger, Hayward, Sefolosha, Jefferson, and maybe a Jeff Green. I'd take Deng over any of them.

Even without the trade I don't think the Cavs would have been bad enough to get a top 6 in next year's draft and that's where you really need to be to get an elite number 1 or number 2 prospect option.

It's a good move, but you might be pushing it a bit by taking Deng over Hayward/Turner, they are both younger than him and all 3 will probably get the same money while those 2 other guys have been much more durable than him.

hell, if we can't get melo, I'd be happy if the bulls got evan turner. at least he can handle the rock and create his own shot.

I don't think they run him into the ground the way Thibs did. I'd still take a chance on him with some options/incentives in a long term deal.

I wouldn't trust Evan's performance in a contract year.

Hayward is still restricted and I think Utah matches just about any deal for him.

I'd talk to Boston about a Green/Deng sign and trade if he does not want to re-sign in the summer.

My priority in this draft is to get another SF and a developmental center. So if they end up drafting at around the 15-20 range they could still get someone like Rodney Hood, Dario Saric, or Adrien Payne.

thats because hes probably not gonna resign with them so if he plays well all hes gonna do is ruin their draft position

Draft position? :dahell:

The lottery isn't guaranteed, and Chris Grant can't draft to save his life.....

Cavs aren't worried about draft picks anymore, they're focused on making the playoffs.

I trust Turner's performance, he's playing well against good teams, I could see if he was beasting against bad teams and then shytting the bed against good ones. He's killing it off the dribble without any real 3 point shooters other than his Center :manny:

Breh, you want yet another PF?
