Of this list I only see 3 guys who can legitimately guard everyone on here (not counting gobert cause why would they)...Lebron KD and Kawhi...

Of those 3 only one of them is the best offensive and defensive player for his team every single night...Kawhi...

Of those 3 only one of them was picked as the only all star on his team AND still won 60 games...Kawhi...

Of those 3 only one guy plays with a horrendous backcourt...Kawhi...

Of those 3 only one guy is going to take the game winning shot and then play defense against the other guy on the other team who tries to take the game winning shot...Kawhi...

I used to be able to give offensive players the benefit of the doubt for being bad defenders because they have to carry such an enormous offensive load...but Kawhi has gotten up to over 30% usage rate which is pretty much the elite mark...and he hasn't sacrificed any part of his defense while doing it...I never ever thought a player could carry a heavy defensive load, shoot a pretty good percentage from everywhere, AND a heavy offensive usage rate all at the same time but Kawhi somehow has....

I'm also taking into account the absolute dead weight he is saddled with...Tony Parker has 6 games this year where he played over 20 minuets and scored 0 points...he is actually having his worst year across the board since his rookie year...Danny Green...where do I even start...he plays half the game and doesn't average 8 points...DANNY GREEN HAS ONLY SCORED IN DOUBLE FIGURES 20 TIMES...and I'm actually lying about the 20...it's really 18...but that is just so pathetic for a starting two guard I am going to assume that I miss counted multiple times and just give him 20...did I mention he averages half a free throw attempt a game...I guess it was just to much to ask of a starting 2 guard in the nba to stay at averaging .8 freethrows a game like he was doing...bonus points for the most shots he has made in a game this year being...6...I thought Westbrook would have everyone beat in the I play with people who can't score category since he plays with the only guy in the league I wouldn't trade Danny for...Roberson...but Kawhi is right up there with him as far as horrible teammates...

So yeah...I'm going to say being the best defender in basketball WHILE being one of the best offensive players in basketball WHILE being the only selected all star and all nba player on your team WHILE playing with a point guard who is a candidate to play half the game and not score WHILE playing with a 2 guard who can only score 10 points one out of every 4 games WHILE getting your team to 60 wins and being pretty much the second best team in the league throughout the entire regular season...should probably net you the MVP...

voted westbrook.... has the least offensive talent around him and got them to 47 wins through sheer will and effort. he doesnt take games off like harden and lebron. another thing i considered is, if you switched westbrook, harden, and bron around on teams, i feel westbrook could get the same record or better as their teams currently have, but i dont think they could on the thunder because they simply do not have the motor to will this offensively inept team to wins even when they arent making shots.

westbrook deserves it

The Thunder only dropped eight games after losing Kevin Durant. Take from that what you will.

The Warriors won less games this season with Durant added, went on their longest winning streak with him out and their individual players' stats dropped considerably compared to last season. Take from that what you will.

For what it's worth: at the Rockets' ClutchFans forum they've been tracking votes from media members who actually have votes and with about half the votes accounted for, Westbrook is leading by a wide margin. :manny:

If you did a fantasy draft of Houston and OKC's rosters, after Harden/Westbrook, I'd bet Adams, Oladipo and Kanter would be the next three picks.

You would be correct.

Harden is the MVP but he won't get it because the narrative for Russ, who is right there with Harden so it's fine I guess.

OKC with Dipo, Kanter, a progressing Adams was projected to be a top 5 team in the west. nikkas was asking if Houston was even gonna make the playoffs.

KD was having a spectacular year as an all-round player.

It's a shame how the injury took him out of the conversation.
