People that approach education from the perspective of it being expensive and jobs requiring multiple degrees/ experience are looking at it wrong. We don't trail other developed nations for no reason.

You develop trades in HS. College should be cheap so getting a degree in Humanities doesn't turn you into a debt slave, all while teaching you why and how to think about the world you experience. We are not machines.

It must be sad to go into college and get a degree in something you don't love because it yields a degree that may pay alot. Even then, you better have great networking skills in this economy.

The whole thing is a sham. Our economy should be encouraging small businesses and innovation. Going to school for a STEM major is obtuse and going for a Humanities is discouraged and will leave you poor.

I don't even know how you'd qualify that statement besides you rejecting my anecdotes.

Keep trolling though.

You on this "thinking" tip...sorry breh. Wall Street is computational. Being an english major only does so much in that lane

First, I have a degree in the sciences lol. Second, Wall Street is not just computational, it has a morality and philosophical component that could only be grasped through the Humanities. It's people who think like you that lead to shady financial practices and government bailouts.

And people wonder why I curse out these administrators in public :pacspit:

My future line of work depends on a few degrees...whatever though.

You develop trades in HS. College should be cheap so getting a degree in Humanities doesn't turn you into a debt slave, all while teaching you why and how to think about the world you experience. We are not machines.
fiscally explain why humanities degrees shouldn't turn you into a debt slave?

If you wanna talk about the cost of college, thats one thing, but to assert that colleges should be invested in educating kids in the humanities for the fukk of it? thats a failed statement all over.

No one is obligated to "enlighten" you.

You got this kinda messed up. I'm all down for knowledge of self and introspection and all that comes with the social/mental masturbation that comes in the humanities...but at the end of the day, if you're not contributing to society, no amount of "humanities electives" will change that.

It must be sad to go into college and get a degree in something you don't love because it yields a degree that may pay alot. Even then, you better have great networking skills in this economy.
Why is that sad?

What about an undergrad degree in psychology or a degree in creative writing or anthropology is DIRECTLY and inherently employable?

Theres nothing obtuse about actually creating something.

So if you like something that doesn't pay well, you either gotta suffer not having a good job or work for something that you hate for life

If that the case, kill me now

When did I say that they don't? I'm sure there are those who do it out of love and those who do it for a paycheck. I know tons of kids in college who went to NYU Stern business program or NYU engineering program because their parents saw it as the best financial decision. You'd be suprised at how many people live other people's lives.

Wall street doesn't have "morals"

it has laws.

It's people who think like you that lead to shady financial practices and government bailouts.

And i don't even know how this makes any fukking sense.

so whats your point?

NOT EVERYONE should "follow their dream" or some bullshyt.

its not gonna happen.

Not all of that stuff makes money. Do what sucks now so you have the freedom to do what you want to do later.

That engineering degree might be a drag, but you can go join that list of failed painters if you want to.

People aren't realistic with themselves.

Hobbies are one thing, ability to provide for yourself is another.

God didn't put me on this earth for that shyt.

Oh really? So he put you on earth to be happy?

So go study finger painting and tell me how happy that makes you.

You act like people are going to want to employ you for opportunities you don't create yourself OR things you just "can't be bothered" to do.

Fine.

You don't wanna work?

Don't.

Just don't complain when theres no market to support your obtuse hobby.
