There are a couple of cac countries like this: Belgium and Switzerland for instance. There are probably a ton of areas in Africa where countries are divided by languages too

I been to Montreal and it was cool. thought about going to Quebec City but I heard it was aggressively French, meaning people there go out their way not to accommodate English speakers

Believe it or not in northern NY there are areas where street signs are in French. I heard in southern Texas there are areas where every thing is in Spanish too
I heard that when a dirty frenchman like @ROFL_GUY were to go to actual France with his version of it, they'd think he was some country bumpkin

btw desjardins is a french bank isn't it :dead:

What is French class like in Toronto high schools? Is it taught seriously or does the teacher just go through the motions? Are there any French schools?
Theres French immersion schools starting from gr 1 i think
In my area it was a lottery system to get in. You have to apply.

I took French up to Gr 9 as it was mandatory back then :flabbynsick:

My kids get taught French 3 times a week in their school (private)

yup there are french immersion schools where they only speak and learn french.

For regular I don't know if it changed but we had french from gr 1 to 9 then after gr 9 its up to you if you want to continue. Very basic like bonjour arret etc.

An entire province in Canada where 45% of the population can't speak English and in past decades that percentage was three times lower:dwillhuh:

That's like having New Jersey speaking a whole nother language while the US speaks English. Imagine driving from NYC and having to put on Google Translate:mjlol:

How do Canadian brehs think about this?

And why is Québec not an independent country?

A separatist state baffles you? In a nation that's had one of the bloodiest civil wars in history?

I mean there are entire swaths of the US where there's more Spanish than English. They just don't want to separate from the US. The fact that it's not MANDATED that we speak English and Spanish is already kind of stupid considering how many spanish speakers there are.

They teach english in France and Germany. None of that makes those places less French or less German.

Stop speaking ignorance, breh. Most Canadians don't live in the far north of Canada (which is actually a part of the Arctic).

Most Canadians live in the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor, and the weather there is not that different from New York State.

is canada not in the NORTH?!!? :mjlol::russ:

I've lived in Detroit and Toronto, and NY. The temperature in Toronto wasn't different from Chicago, Detroit, or NYC.
Buffalo is like an hour from Toronto. Detroit is 3.5/4 hours from Toronto. Rochester is 3 hours from Toronto and Montreal. Not going to be a huge temperature difference.

Vancouver doesn't get cold at all, they have the same weather as Seattle.

He's never going to get it, so it's pointless arguing with him.
