Exactly and really there is nothing remotely close, that either have. Nintendo is on a whole different level. They are at the point where both Sony and MS aspire to be in gaming business wise.

And when you add in Pokemon the difference becomes unfair.

Nintendo owns 1/3 of Pokemon though.

No, in the retro games podcasts glaze Nintendo. Any people that worked in the game industry that are white and late 30s and up, all wax poetic about the Nintendo consoles of their youth while ignoring or putting down games from other consoles like the Genesis.

This the only part i think is untrue

Nintendo is the one who always had consistent success with portables via gameboys, PlayStation tried with the psp/pspgo and those did well but everything after fell flat afterwards cuz they never developed classic portable-specific IP like nintendo had with pokemon

Nintendo merging their home and portable concepts was always gonna be the most logical progression as technology got better, PlayStation didn't force nothing over there, mobile gaming runs japan in general so it's really the big flex when you think about it
