I think this generation of console has helped bridge the gap between PC/console gaming in some aspects. There's always discussion on here on how PC shyts all over console, and it does, in the obvious categories, like power, graphics, speed etc etc etc... but for what these consoles do, they are pretty damn good in the convenience department.

You don't get the best of the best visuals when compared to a top PC, but you aren't getting complete trash... you're getting something in between, but you also get some decent features on top of all that. This gen IMO helped push sharing content, and streaming it online more than any other. With PS4 and Xbox allowing people to record/live stream their gameplay at anytime... really opened the doors up for even more content being created and put out there. I read that the videogame streamers are due to bring in 1.1 billion in donations this year... and this isn't even including subscription service fees.

These features sold me on this gen for consoles. I think it's dope that you can do something dope in a game, and with a few buttons, record it and share it to your brehs... Yes, I know recording/streaming have been around far before this gen, but have accessible has it been for consoles? These consoles come out the box with built in streaming and recording capabilities (which are improving as time goes along)... you don't have to worry about freezing or something not working, it just works.

I just copped a capture card to be able to get better quality stuff out of my console gameplay, and immediately got reminded how much I just enjoy the plug and play aspect of console. You can research a purchase for weeks and once you get it in your hands, still be on Youtube and google trying to 'fix' something or figure some basic shyt out.

:why:

Why can my PS4 record the game audio, chat audio and gameplay with 2 buttons while using my PS Gold Headset, but not an external capture card that's hooked up to my PC with the software for it running? Then you go look for a solution and you see all these extra adapters and cables and shyt for something so simple.

:dahell:

I hope PS4 Pro and Scorpio continue to push the envelope in terms of the quality of console streaming and gameplay recording, because it's far cheaper, and more convenient when it's built in.

I'm excited for Scorpio because it might just be a SFF PC.

I agree 100%.
I'll take convenience and consistency over anything else any day.
I've always said the same. I'm a pc gamer who went to console for convenience. As I grew older and less invested in gaming it made more sense than having a dedicated rig that I had to upgrade regularly

Console players play a lot over the course of a generation, but they are just worried about the entry price.

Honestly there comes a point in where if you buy enough games the prices stretched out over 4-5 years isn't that much of a difference. Consoles do have a significant advantage if the gamer trades/sells games after he is done with the physical copies.

The beauty of consoles is exclusivity. Gaming on a PC for the most part is easy, but let games like Arkham Knight release and the casuals think that is commonplace...it isn't.

The way some posters here are you'd think that was the case.

PS4 Pro is basically better than a gaming PC.

Power + Convenience=Fun

PS4's "power" is only viewed through the eyes of the competition. Easy to say power when the bar is already low.
