Above the fray.
In Bama for the week to see my folks and all the lil shyt I used to take for granted as a jit wen I used to come down here is the same shyt I cherish these days.

Just sitting on a porch and kicking back in the sun with the birds and shyt chirping in the background, roosters crowing, shyt just overall serenity. Priceless bruh.

Soon as a nikka get his bread up, that decision to move ain't gne be a tough one.

:salute::salute::salute: To all yall country brehs, that city shyt overrated and toxic tbh.
My mom is from the country area, and I grew up with people mostly from the rural South who had moved North.

Everybody left "the country" because there were no opportunities there......I used to see their vacation pictures and asked them why would they leave such beautiful areas to come live in grimy Northeast city.........their parents said.....that there was nothing going on down there and their kids had more opportunities up North. This was growing up in the 70s and 80s.

Not all country areas are the same though just like not all cities are the same. Some country areas are destitute while others are relatively vibrant in their own right and in close proximity to areas with opportunity

I'll stick with the suburbs. Too crowded in the city, too loud, usually too expensive. Too much stagnation in the country. People way too content with just sitting around and taking up space. I like hanging out and drinking as much as the next guy but to wake up and start drinking :what: to drink all day long :gucci: to do it again every day that week :guccby:?

Maybe in the 70s and 80s I could agree, but now u got access to pretty much what u need and don't have to worry about all the foolishness the city brings.

The "Great Migration" happened though. There was several reasons, but greater economic opportunities were part of it.

You see some of the cities a lot of the great migration people settled in? Cleveland, Omaha, Detroit, Baltimore, Flint, St.Louis, Camden, Milwaukee, Cincinnati...black people are struggling in cities and countryside alike

Haitians are black and there are black Dominicans too but it’s still a different culture. I wouldn’t expect someone with foreigner background to feel fully comfortable in counties where 98 pct of the black people were AA just like I wouldn’t feel comfortable in Washington Heights or North Miami
