i'm not black so i can't speak on that aspect but in middle school you're young you might not understand (black or white) that the shyt is literature and written in a different era. I know I felt uncomfortable and cringed everytime teacher had to read that. Maybe not the "cool with you" part

I hate it when they know you're in the room and they suddenly talk shyt about black folks . I went to see the Avengers last week at a theater where I found out I was one of two black dudes out of about 500 people waiting in line to see the movie. When I got in the theater room to sit down, some CACS sitting behind me started to talk about how they last saw a movie where some black folks got into a fight and messed it up for them . "black people, always getting in trouble", lol" one said. I Turned around and look at all five of them with the before shaking my head and then turning around , shaking my head. They were looking like and didn't say shyt for the rest of the movie.
