Get an American Express card if you can. They do limit increases after 61 days 3x your credit limit then in 6 months you can do that same thing again. . It will lower your credit utilization tremendously; ideally you want to stay below 30% util, but 10%-20% is best imo.

I've increased my credit by 70 pts in 6 months by doing this.

Also, if you have any baddies on your credit report you can write good will letters.

Someone help me out!

Back story. 6-8 months ago, my credit score was 580. I got a few credit cards, slowly brought it up to about 620. Now over this last month it dropped back down to 601 :damn:

I have some things in collections, which is the major reason for this. I know theres nothing I can do about this, and wouldn't fix my credit if I paid them off.

I have 3 credit cards. One is dead empty at a 300$ limit. One is nearly maxed at 550. I plan to focus on getting this down to half over the next few months. And then the big boy, a credit card I shared with my ex (that is now closed). It's at 1800$

So what can I do to get this up? My goal is 650 by christmas. Is it possible? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Any credit cards out there for someone who has a low credit score but is ready to build it back up? Last time I checked my score was around 550 but I've paid off all my shyt that was in collections since then. I wish I could go back in time and back hand the shyt out of my 19 year old self when I got that first CC in the mail.

Capital one is pretty friendly with low credit persons. Just make sure you have no annual fee

You can also do a secured credit card
Where you put in a deposit as colleteral which acts as your credit line

The maxed out card is hurting your utility numbers. Get that shyt down to 20% of 550 limit.

The accounts in collections, call them and negotiate a PFD (pay for deletion). They will most likely require you to pay the entire amount BUT they will at least delete the entire tradeline as if it never existed. Make sure you get a PFD contract in writing.

Capitol One are the most lenient of the big banks. Check for secured cards as well.

I'll do that with the credit card. The collections are going to have to wait. I can't afford to pay them, live by myself and go to school :mjcry:

Would it help at all if I would make let's say, my Internet payment, with my credit card, wait a bit and pay that amount off my credit card?

No that won't help at all bc you're already maxed out on the other cards.

Up to 765 now :win:
I'm right there with you at 760. :myman:

I'm only trusting the sites like quizzle and credit karma. They say 760 on equifax, experian, and vantage score. My capital one and mint apps are like 100 points less. Could it be that they might be behind and not updating? Also would I able to lower the interest on my car from what it is? I'm around 5.2 but anything lower helps. I was around 520 when I got the car and now at 760 I wonder if it'll be lower. With no hidden tricks of course.
