sign up for a secure credit card that will graduate after a year.Negotiate your terms and make demands breh. I wopuld recommend chase personnally., good luck

Bolded is one of the most important things. Some banks offer cards that don't graduate at all. Thats an L all around.

And understand what a secured card is

You are putting money down get a credit line. The money you put down is only there to cover the bank in case you default. This is to minimize risk for the bank. IT DOES NOT PAY THE BILL FOR YOU.

I've seen a lot of ppl make their credit worse by thinking that a secured card was a pre paid or pay as you go card.

Also I'd recommend getting a couple to build faster, for example you have 600 you want to put into a secured line. Get 2 cards with 300 dollar limits instead of 1 600 card. Youll build up your paymebt history twice as fast

:dwillhuh: Is this true???!! If it is, I'm about to be good soon & never knew it.

Anybody gotta a link to more info?

Its true.

Pull your credit report for free from https://www.annualcreditreport.com
And it'll show you the month and year your collections fall off.

Anybody ever get a mysterious credit limit increase? I'm on mint checking my accounts as usual and I see my payment for my capital one card had posted on the account. I just sent it today. I click available balance and the number was way higher. Used to be 500 and it was saying 3500. I was like :dahell:. I had been using the card a bit more lately but mainly for food and household supplies. Nothing major and paid off a good chunk of the balance today. I don't use it much but started just to build up more points. I was just thrown off by the limit increase since I checked the last statement and it said 500. Hope this isn't a trap, not like I'm gonna go crazy now that the limit increase, should help my credit score tho. Even tho my credit utilization isn't really above the recommended standards.

This happened to me except I requested the increase. I was paying it off weekly and initially I had 500 and then they gave me 3700. It helped my credit score and all that.

2.5 years Ive gone from mid 500s with a secure CC, to a 733 average. I've been mostly mature with my spending, no missed payments the entire time and paid off all my shyt from when I was 19-23, including school. It's never too late to rebuild. A high paying position helps me as well.

The 733 would be higher if my credit line was higher. I just got a Blue Everyday Amex and gonna take it from there.

Is it a good idea to pay student loans with a 0 apr chase credit card, then pay off the cc balance?

That will establish a good credit line and show that you are good with credit limits...

but if you can get a 0% apr credit card your score is already good so it will just show as an increase to your credit responsibility which is a good thing.

that's a good idea but that's why a lot of loan companies only allow you to pay off one month with a CC if at all.

Breh you know anyone in TX that can clean up a credit score quick...I'm trying to get a new whip.
