Brad Holmes is restoring the feeling
May I ask... how many hours do you typically work in a week?

Everyone I know in accounting does ridiculous hours. Tried dating an accountant once but she never got off work before like 8:00 so it didn't go anywhere.
Admittedly, it's over 40 a week on average. Depends on time of year too. We have a calendar year fiscal so our audit starts late February. We are in budget season right now and it works on a timeline so I was working till 11:30 last night for example.

However, I leave work at 5. If I have extra to do, I do it at home. It is unfortunate that more than 40 is an accepted practice but we have deadlines and time sensitive things that need to be done. Everything a company does intersects with finance so a lot goes on with my department.

What role did this lady you were dating have? As a controller, I was approving purchase orders in Disney World. My involvement is that integral to the day to day business. It's the cost of a six figure job. There are downtimes like immediately after month end close for example but in averaging it out for a year, 45-50 hours is the range, with spikes here and there. I'm still able to do trips, take my son to basketball practices and games. I just might need to divert my attention elsewhere from time to time. The life we lead breh.

In addition to Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor, etc. try this:
jobs@davidcareers.com

Set it up for what you want (even remote) and then I actually copy & paste the company name in Google to see if the position actually exists

It’s the holiday season. Thanksgiving is next week and after that is petty much Christmas and new year. Unless a company is pressed to hire, things most likely won’t pick up until the new year.

Keep trying, just be mindful of that.

feel like marketing doesnt really have this issue in regards to yearly timining. I've always gotten jobs closer to the end of the year, only my current position (which is a terrible small company) I was hired at the beginning of the year

It’s so fukking hard man. I’m a recent graduate that’s been applying to jobs for 6 months and I’ve been to multiple interviews but nothing works out. I’m dead sick of this shyt man. I’m not sure if it’s me putting my race in because I spoke with another recent graduate that was white and they got hired right after graduation.

You qualify for the FeGov's recent grad hiring program.

My degree is biological sciences

STEM degree. Apply for a Patent Examiner spot.

Not gonna lie its been pretty tough. Got out of the military and all of the jobs are a paycut from when i was on active duty. Alot of entry level jobs call back, but higher paying ones seem to not give a damn about military experience.

Im thinking about going back to school
Did you leave with a degree? I considered your situation being a possibility for me, but I want to leave with a bachelor's from a reputable university and some certs beforehand. I've seen too many kats go to American University, then find out years later that it's worthless.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Degrees don’t mean shyt without experience.

And I never put that I’m black or African American on my resume. I lie and say I’m 1/2 Morrocan.

And I lie about having a bachelors degree. I put a school that closed in 2002 on my resume. A Bachelors in business. If they go back that far to check, I don’t want to work with them anyway.

Notice I said work with them and not for them :mjpls:

I got like 20 years of management experience, supervisor, assistant manager, general manager, area manager and regional manager.

I’m at a point where the minimum I would work for is $80,000 a year. That’s my minimum wage. I can only apply for certain jobs because anything less than area manager or site director would be a down grade, or they wouldn’t be scared off by my salary demands.

I hate interviews. Hate working for others.

Ima recent grad that just found a job, was hired right before Christmas, just completed my first day
Took me about three months of serious searching to finally get a job, to be honest it was starting to stress me out by not finding work right away, I even started to look for jobs out of my field but I had to calm myself down and understand the job search isn’t easy
Ironically when I finally got an offer another company offered me a job around the same time, it’s almost funny how that worked out
