it's not going to become FB status just no more carry the load backs. Individuals are devalued because it's so many at the same level of talent that they can be rotated or plug and play. why pay em a ton if they aren't special or carrying the entire running game

denver let moreno go for scraps a one year 3 milly deal and dude was a beast last year

even this nfl draft the depth at rb is absurd but many guys will be lucky to even be drafted

guys like de anthony thomas are smart playing two positions

That's exactly what I mean by fullback status, there won't be marquee dudes there. No one talks about fullbacks outside of Tolbert, leach, and Bruce miller. RB's will be the same, why would I as an up and coming talent in football stick with the rb position? There will be dudes who fill the role, and that's about it, they won't be jersey sellers or your favorite player on the team.

Damn, ain't that one of the positions with the shortest shelf life. :lupe:

Getting paid pennies to take the most damage. :damn:

its ABSOLUTELY the position that takes the most beating. I been saying this for years. the RB is gonna take the most punishment cuz defenders are built to stop the ballcarrier. unlike lineman who get hit every play, they are not getting hit by players who have a running head start, nor are they tackled and hit by more than one player typically.

why do cats keep bringing up Knowshon like he's a certified beast. he doesn't prove your point he proves mine. he's had 1 good year 2 seasons where he's played a full season. he almost got his spot snatched and not given back a couple years ago. why would anyone pay him big money when there are 20 RBs who can give you the same production?

Knowshon Moreno getting that ridiculously undervalued contract was the beginning of the end.

Incredible how underpaid he will be this season.

oh aight i thought you meant teams lining up 5 wide all the time :pachaha:
i agree with you tho cats should learn to play safety and corner over RB if they want a monetary future. the GOAT Sean Taylor started as a RB switched it up and became great :wow:

I wouldn't say there getting paid pennies but compared to the other skill players it is unfair

If I was a GM, all my money would go towards a good Defense and run game, that's what seems to win championships I guess

It always comes back to this no matter how many passing records get broken. If you can't run the ball and play defense you're pretty much fukked.

But just about all running backs seem to be at the same level except for like a Peterson. It's easier to just rotate and plug them around then pay big money for one especially since there success depends on the offensive line.

sounds like Toby has a better agent or he's a privileged individual.
How much would you pay a player that has 1 thousand yard season in 5 years and he barely got that and it was against soft Ds cause of his GOAT QB. How's he gonna do with a so/so QB? What is his value?

When you REALLY think about it though this has always been the case throughout NFL history. Only the best of the best are the ones who get more than a few years of shine and it's pretty easy to recognize those. Right now, there's only Marshawn, Peterson, Charles, Shady...and maybe Gore that are irreplaceable.

naw, they not on the same level, dont be fooled by the nfl's trickery....the nfl doesn't want that '3 yards and a cloud of dust' or a run heavy style of play anymore...that isn't 'exciting' enough...the nfl wants afl type play, that's why it's such a passing league and the rules are slanted so heavily toward offense, especially wrs....but you can still tell when teams have a good rb or not...

and like others said earlier: defense and being able to run/stop the run wins ships...if you don't have those 2 things, you aint winning...
