RICO is a federal statute that provides advanced tools for apprehending those engaging in racketeering. It also provides a civil remedy. While you are correct that it is specifically designed to go after criminal organizations by allowing you to group specific acts together in the furtherance of a criminal enterprise - you don’t necessarily have to charge multiple people. You can grant the other people immunity for testifying to their role. In this case, all of the sex workers could technically be charged for engaging in prostitution but they’re not going to do that because they only want Diddy. Prosecutors like having big name cases on their resume. One of those prosecutors is going to run for a larger office after Diddy is convicted. If he wasn’t removed by Trump - the US Attorney probably would’ve run for Attorney General or something the next go around.
That is also how I understand it.
Diddy is full RICO because this is what they are trying to prove. (Extortion, Arsen, threats)
R.kelly is Rico based but it wasn't the original charges..
