The Republicans have the levers of power and a dwindling but rabid base. The Democrats have the "moral high ground," Twitter hot takes and clapbacks, and the vast majority of the population on their side and they can't do a thing with it.

The fact that Trump won in the first place was a reflection of the impotence of the party. The fact that Trump will have four years of unmatched corruption, incompetence, apathy and political malevolence behind him and he even has a SLIGHT chance, let alone the very REAL chance he has at reelection, shows that the Democratic party needs to be blown up and rebuilt from the ground up.

Trump barely won in 2016 against one of the most despised major party candidates ever and you making it sound like he's a juggernaut lol.

What has Trump, who had the "juice," done for regular republicans lol? His entire gimmick is punishing groups that poor white trash republicans hate, while doing nothing to actually help regular people. It's a presidency of spite and corruption that has...one major legislative victory, a tax cut for the wealthy.

TBH this is what republicans should have done in 2016. Dudes who had no business being in the race stayed in, allowing Trump to rack off multiple wins with 30-35% of the total vote. Which is exactly what Bernie was hoping to do. After Super Tuesday that race should have just been Trump, Cruz, and Rubio. Kasich was probably the most electable republican running but he simply wasn't doing well in those early primaries. Not saying Trump wouldn't have won...he would have likely still won. But it was their best shot, and ego stopped it.

The biggest difference between Trump and Bernie is that Trump brought out new voters, and Bernie isn't doing that. His wins have come with the youth and Latino vote being meh, and overall total voting being at 2016 levels, below, or slightly above. The revolution cannot be verified with the numbers. On the flip side....SC turnout was much higher than 2016 and nearly matched 2008. That's likely just an outlier...but if Biden is bringing black votes out closer to 2008 Obama than 2016 Hillary, he's going to get the nomination.
