I got onto hiphop properly in 03 :francis: I thought it was dope until the late 2000s
96 - Pac died and essentially the West died with him :mjcry:
Dre was on some bullshyt in videos turning his nose up at police brutality.
Bay Area rap was declining in 97 too:mjcry:
Out on the East coast Big debuted what would become the East Coast model for rappers for a while with LAD. The try to appeal to all demographics model. It worked for BIG because he was that nice, but that, along with Swizz the next year, killed the traditional sound of the East :mjcry:
Shiny Suits :scust:
Lazy sampling to pander to white america :scust:
The South went from Scarface, Kast, UGK and Ball and G to No Limit :scust:and 36 :scust:
The following year Cash Money would break through nationally :scust:
It was the beginning of the end for regionalism, lyricism and creative freedom. :mjcry:
