lyrically he better then ever but musically he fell off
this "lyrically" comment is retarded.

Em will forever be able to string words together.

Thats not lyricism to me.

Lyricism is taking production, cadence, voice, and a lot of other intangibles to create an experience.

Em ain't doing that.

Dude is following the formula and releasing subpar music.

He's doing what Justin Timberlake did in 2013

charts don't determine song quality.

Keep trolling.

Ya'll lames that rely on chart numbers and sales counts only do so because you can't hold court in a place where only subjectivity matters. You know the music has fallen off but won't admit that Em is only winning amongst white people who don't even listen to rap music.

u can try to flip it anyway you want...dude never fell off...he may have made songs you didnt like by testing his creativity n shyt...but he never fell off. Encore was the only period in his music where he slipped up a bit and I think a lot of it had to do with the label...the album still had some gems.

How exactly has Em ceased to connect with his audience? You realize a song like Underground is eerily similar to Criminal? a song his fans adore....go look at the comments for underground on youtube...seems to me that it connects very well with his audience.

Em will be an elite lyricist till he stops breathing. It's cool to have an opinion and if you don't like certain records, that's cool, he can't please everyone...but to say dude fell off lyrically...the same dude that dropped rap god and raped the bet cypher last year...nah, you're buggin.

salute

Spoken like a Kendrick Lamar fan.

No one could say these dudes couldn't rap...but they can't create music to save their lives.

Pusha T? That dude is lyrical to me. Dude understands HOW TO MAKE SONGS.

All rappers are "lyrical"...but its HOW they create their content that makes them artists.

Rap G-d is a wonderful example of how technical wizardry on the mic =/= dopeness. Chip Fu might be the fastest rapper that sounds dope at top speed but he is NEVER mentioned in the GOAT discussion (nor is the world record holder Twista). ODB is seen as nicer, but technically ODB was in kindergarten compared to some on the high end.

I like listening to Greg Nice more than I like listening to Em. Mr Cheeks too. These are some of the most basic styles.

So what did Em say on Rap G-d that was dope like "bust a nut inside your eye.. to show you where I come from"? Just an ill ass bar that will be remembered 20 years from now? This is rhetorical.

He raps fast and puts words together very well but he lacks soul. Real Hip Hop is soul music.

Bingo.

Lyricism ain't the "be all" of MUSIC.

I try to tell ya'll dudes.

All rappers...CAN RAP...but its how they put words together. Thats what people ain't understand about the South when they stared. Those dudes weren't trying to lose their breath rapping. They were trying to bring their style and cadence and if I may say...swagger... to the track.

Em ain't got that anymore. Dude used to really have me nodding...now its just this contrived corny bullshyt that I'm not feeling anymore. I'm not 14. This isn't my first rap song.

Consider that Stalley "Swangin" song. THAT is a dope ass song. Its a combination of a lot of intangibles that comes together to make a fire ass track.

And before people say you can rap and make good music, look at Twista..THAT dude drops a fire ass song every year or so. I respect Twista. He knows how to use that to make GOOD MUSIC.

all rappers can't rap there is only a few that can actually rap technically speaking and it is not so subjective very few rhyme in matching syllable count like eminem

Just admit you don't have any swagger and we'll end this discussion.

I'm not talking about expensive clothes and slang, i'm talking about style, soul, or any sort of emotional or behavioral intangible that suggests that you're not being contrived or a corny lame pimping a genre of music.

The rappers job is to create lyrics that don't fill every bar or syllable...its to create verbal moments in which the audience can really feel or take with them.

I'm not even talking "stadium status" music.

Jay does this shyt effortlessly. He's rapping smoothly and clearly AND YET he's dropping incredible lines that you can take with you.

Em's voice just ain't doing it anymore.

Who gives a damn about filling syllables?

I'll say this once again...all rappers CAN rap.

You got it confused thinking that you gotta fill every little sonic space with lyrics and equate that with being gifted.

Lupe doesn't do that, but he's still mentioned as a great lyricist...wonder why? Its HOW he does it.

Wale can rap his ass off, but he's not corny about it. Dude still brings that EFFORT and that bounce to his shyt. Dude can have you rocking to the sound of his words, OR you can be riding the wave of his cadences.

And it STILL sounds better than Eminem.

All that rappity rap rap shyt is NOT making good music...which is why Twista gets my respect, because he CAN do it so well.

breh u probably don't even know what a rhyme scheme is.

typical em fan.

Go grab your notes from your english class and tell me about "meter" and "rhyme" again.

I.

Do.

Not.

Care.

This isn't a class on the english language. This is about music and one's ability to make music that transcends lyrics written on a page.
