I don't recall Russia having the sheer technical will to create inventions and related developments that US/UK created at the time either :sas1:

T-34 says otherwise. But Lend-Lease to the Soviets definitely kept them in the fight.

:damn: at the soviets

fukked up part is you had soviets killing soviets for desertion, friendly fire.

Wonder if they thought about including the genocide in the ukraine
In the chart comparing atrocities in world history, there was bar labeled "Stalin". I'm guessing the Ukrainian genocide fell there.

In regards to your spoiler, there was a thread on old Soviet countries where the people wanted to tare down WW2 statues because they were "Soviet remnants". There were certain American posters who were all about it. I thought that was pretty despicable considering the sacrifice Soviets made to defeat Hitler. I'm Russian-American and I grew up thinking it was only the US that won the war and sacrificed the most to do it. Thats the propaganda we're fed here. After really looking into it, the Ruskies were the true victors and sacrificed the most to defeat the Axis powers. They def don't get their due respect for all they did to win WW2.
shyt could be said for asia as a whole during ww2, just fukking mind boggling at the sheer #'s of soldiers and civilians that died

I can remember in high school looking through the textbooks and seeing how little was mentioned about the eastern front even in the fukking world history books

This whole presentation gave me chills, the amount of work Neil put into this project and timed perfectly. Even the ending counts forward from Memorial Day 2015...I think most of that flew over people's head because they were caught with all the facts in the previous 17 minutes :wow:

As far as your quote about Hitler looking like a little bytch, I am not so sure about that. Hitler was ruthless and basically got too aggressive too quickly, he found himself in an impossible position fighting a war on all fronts even with his ridiculously strong Army at the time. Some of those bunkers the Nazis built were almost indestructible as they were preparing their defense against the allies along the western front. They were spread too thin by the time D-Day had arrived, but he had to be stopped at all costs. By 1942 he had occupied so much territory in such a short of amount of time and his mass murders were finally being broadcasted to the world towards the end of the war. The communication back then was nowhere what it was today obviously and the man almost wiped out an entire group of people in a matter of 6 years.

All in all, even with the amount of people that Russia lost...Poland is probably the biggest loser in all of this.

I'm just talking about in mass of deaths

what hitler did was fukking terrible, horrific, and disgusting

but to kill your own like stalin and mao did is worse

China was the biggest loser in all of this, they had the most deaths (depending on records) and we barely, if ever hear about the atrocities committed against them during ww2

where are all the museums and memorials for them?

I understood your first point, but I still think Hitler was on his way to become as bad if not even worse than Mao or Stalin. Hitler did focus on others, but a killing is a killing in my eyes. Hitler DID kill some of his own people, but not at the same scale. The man was basically going after anyone who did not agree with his ideology. Homosexuals, disabled, Jew, and others were also killed only the Arian race who believed in his ideology was safe. World domination is what he was after.

The only difference is that Hitler has a relatively short reign compared to those other 2. I am inclined to believe that if Germany had somehow won World War II, the number of killings by the Nazi's could have very well been as high as MAO or Stalin due to the sheer amount of 11 million in 5+ years and escalating at the height of their reign.

Hitler was a maniac, let's put a scenario out there. If the Axis had won WW2 who is it to say that all newly occupied German states wouldn't have been wiped out? He is in the same mold IMO, just because he spared his fellow countrymen who agreed with him doesn't make him less of a nut. He and his group started the deadliest conflict in human history...

You seem to be well read in WW2, who starts it then? Do you think any other leader besides Hitler would have invaded Poland in that way? I think the probability was high to pick up the war, especially given the fact that Julius Streicher was already heavy at work with the antisemitism before 1939 and had already seen Hitler speak in the 1920's.

It's all just a continuation of WW1, if that's what you were implying then I agree.

Yea, it was just a continuation. All the peace treaties really fukked over a # of countries.

Mussolini was planning an attack on France and he was trying to get Britain to remain neutral

Also, Stalin was going to expand west no matter what, just happened sooner then he had wished for

I took a few classes on ww2 in college, shyt was awesome

I get to teach American studies this upcoming year, so I'm going to do a lot on ww1 and 2

Numbers seems low but I'll have to look at it a bit more.
