Started Stronglifts 5x5 about 2 months ago (on forced break now, sprained knee:comeon:), and feeling worlds better. Been:flabbynsick: just about my whole life. Got diabetes and said fukk it, can't go out like that. Got off the diabetes and blood pressure meds with a combo of keto diet, intermittent fasting over the last year, and now the gym. I have old injuries and some issues, but the weights have me feeling better than I have since a teenager. Squats and deadlifts:whew:

Props to y'all.

I'm at the start of my journey. Been eating more and doing push ups to get into it.

How do y'all muffukaz know what excercises to do to gain muscles, and how to them without injuring yourself?

My biggest worry now before hitting the gym is not knowing exactly how to approach it and injuring myself in the proces.

Looking forward to developing that look-great-in-a-t-shirt physique!
If you're just starting out then you should follow a basic plan. Stronglifts is a good beginner plan and the creator keeps everything simple. Just google stronglifts and the site will come up. He has good tips from diet to proper form. The most important thing is to keep proper form and use the right technique. Also swallow your pride immediately. You may feel extra weak at first but that's okay, everybody starts somewhere. And honestly most people at the gym won't even notice you unless you do something dumb. Increase the weight slowly, follow the proper form, and you'll prosper. Don't go in there trying to show out.

How many days a week y'all hit the gym?
I try to get in there 3 days a week but it's tough when you work and have a long commute. I would be in there 4-5 days a week if I could but 3 is usually good for most people.

FACTS. Stronglifts has a free app to guide you, and it's not hard to build good habits. Keep your form good, and you shouldn't hurt yourself. Start low, it ratchets up fast, and you'll find your limits before too long.

Sundays are the best for me. I'm fully rested. Plus, I practically the entire facility to myself. It's never that packed to begin with, but still I enjoy the time alone.

Nah i get so complacent there i just do cardio and hit some upper body, I can't do treadmills like that i run bo legged on em lol
no excuse.... I'm bow legged and pigeon toed, lol. But if you trying to build muscle you should probably cut back on the cardio anyway. To prevent burning muscle I have to keep my heart rate around 124 bpm.

Good. Running is a high impact exercise that wears down the cartilage in the knee. Elliptical Burns more calories without stressing the joints. Also, hop on the row machine. I do five sets of 500m bursts. Aim to knock out 500m sets in two minutes or less with a one minute break in between. Please hop on YT for videos on proper form and ergometer settings. I hate seeing people stress their back from doing them improperly.

For some reason, before I ever did the row machine I looked up a bunch of instructional videos on it . Now it irks me whenever I see people use incorrect form. I've even offered to show people how to do it correctly before, lol. It's amazing the differences you notice when you do exercises with correct form, preventing injuries being the most beneficial.

Yup been upping my cardio like a mug with my Nike run app in conjunction with my lifting. Kinda slacked off after I quit soccer, Toned up all around, and my face did as well cheek bones on fleek :queen: last week maxed out at 225 x3 which is good for me at 185 6'1, but it's funny cuz when I was eating he most and lifting the most a few years ago I was at my biggest body wise but cld never hit above 215 but now I'm leaner but stronger cuz I revamped my lifts to focus on technique first then everything else

Anybody got diet tips to pump and gain weight?
Im 6'4 175

If I get 200 or 215 I'm going to be a monster

:takedat:

I'm 6'4" 194 lbs. 7 years ago I was 155 lbs.

It's hard for us taller brehs to pack on clean lean muscle.
At least we got the height, but I'm working on that Calvin Johnson Megatron physique. I gotta slim Ocho Cinco thing going now, though.
