The Firm was a dope album, it just came out at the wrong time.

Good album IMO...lacked quality lyricism IMO from Nas, nature and az. But it's entertaining. I honestly think that the professional critics ruined what people thought of this album.

But If I could change one thing about it though, it would have been to keep Cormega on there. He was clearly the missing gem on this ring

The best part of this album wasn't actually a part of the album.

The Firm- Firm Biz(Remix) - YouTube

and like George Costanza I leave this thread on a high note...

Let me bless you :ahh: What you know about this?

Good album IMO although it did have filler. Also like someone said earlier in the thread, the timing wasn't right when the album dropped along with the fact people was expecting some hard shyt from the crew and Dre.

Did Half A Mil write AZ's verse on Firm Fiasco? The flow, cadence and lyrics sound just like him.

Desperados :blessed:

Canibus arguably had the best verse on the whole album.

Sent from a Super Samsung Galaxy 3 via Master Roshi's Island.

It couldn't have dropped at a better time. The problem wasn't the timing, the album just wasn't up to par. Mafiosos rap was still popular. The Trackmasters were still some of the biggest Hip Hop producers in the game. Foxy Brown at the time was pretty big. Looping up popular songs from the 80's was huge.

The only negative toward the album in regard to timing is Dr. Dre. At the time, Dre was considered to be something of the past.

I never listened to it entirely but the 4 tracks I heard were pretty dope. I wish Hip-Hop actually had dope lyricists with dope concepts. TDE's dope but sometimes I'm asleep bc those dudes can get so boring sometimes. Everything Nas/AZ rapped about made me wanna listen and hear more.

To be reality, Dr Dre should have had nothing to do with this. His direction in terms of the prouction was very incohesive and the other thing is this group had the same problem that Slaughterhouse has in that the group had 4 rappers with pretty similar styles. This group really needed Cormega who could ground the album with his gritty flow.

It's a great album, and very similar to Rick Ross' Deeper Than Rap, which most people will tell you is his best record. Firm Fiasco, Phone Tap, I'm Leaving, Throw Your Guns, Desperados and Executive Decisions are all stellar songs.
