the first scream movie is underrated as hell

A horror shirt I have doesn’t even give Ghostface respect. It has Chucky holding a knife over his body.

Ironic because Chucky nor the Child's Play franchise has never got a namedrop or reference in any of the four Scream movies. I guess Wes and Kevin Willamson weren't big fans of the Chuckster.

I think it's underrated because it's one of the movies that is really forgotten until someone mentions it. It gets love, but it doesn't get as much love as Freddy, Jason, Mike Myers, Chucky. But it really is well crafted, weaves hella genres together, satirical, well acted. It's The Princess Bride of horror/slasher, without the Princess Bride praise.

I always thought it was slick how they Red Herring'd the Red Herring. Like Billy's the "obvious" suspect so you rule him out...and then the story rules him out too...and then boom, turns out it really was him anyway

The true twist is that there are two killers. Most slasher films only had one killer up to that point so most people expected only one person doing the crimes. The film "knew" that most people would peg Billy, and he always came across as really sus throughout the film, but hardly anyone thought that there would be an accomplice. Stu showing up at the doorway with the voice changer was a real moment lol.

Yeah but still, Just too far past due. Especially since Sidney, Dewey, and Gail all survived part 4.
