The PS5 Pro is a good price for what you get from a hardware perspective.

The market for it is just very specific.

It’s too expensive for the price conscious consumer which is most of the console market.

And it’s not powerful enough for the people that REALLY care about performce.

It’s fan service for playstations biggest supporters, and that’s ok i guess :ehh:

I wonder what this means for a $600/700 dollar+ xbox and a 500 dollar switch 2

Lots of people will be priced out of new hardware. Generations will last longer than ever.

I think there are still more people on “last gen” than current gen.
I feel like if $100 on a purchase that last a good 7 or so years is a bridge too far for people then they need to be focused on making better moves with their life than buying what’s essentially a toy.

We are talking about $14.28 a year average cost. About $1.20 a month in average cost. People piss away more money on a weekend.

I understand feeling like something you can afford isn’t worth what they’re asking or looking at the price of something and just being unwilling to pay. That’s a different story.

Probably just out of touch because I don’t view $100 or even $1000 as unreasonable for a long term purchase I find value in having.

$100 is a lot of money to some people.

We see that when sales spike for $100 price drops.

Lots of people still on last gen cause current gen still cost too much.

All of this reminds me of a random Patrice Oneal joke when he said imagine if Mrs. Bairds, Wonderbread, and every bread company united together and decided to raised all loafs of bread to $50 a loaf and they made a press conference announcing the price hike like "All us bread companies are raising each loaf of bread to $50 each because... what are you gonna do about it? What the fukk you gonna do about it? You gonna stop eating bread? We KNOW that's not gonna happen we know you all LOVE sandwiches."

$100 doesn't have a lot of buying power. In the United States as a whole that's not a lot and if a person considers it so they have an income problem they need to fix.

If you have several months of living expensive minimal saved $100 is nothing and if you don't before buying a several hundred dollar video game console that should be the goal.

Problem is people live outside their means at the edge of what they can afford or worse.

You're annoying as fukk. You never have anything human to say about anything just robotic as shyt. Its one thing to spend your money in peace but you go out of your way to judge other people's spending habits in an anti consumer fashion.

Truly despicable shyt. They could make game prices $99 and you'd still find a way to reason with it "cause you got paper". Shining example of a gamer ass gamer that has no basis in reality, just a speaker box for various brands.

I have plenty of human things to say. Saying $100 doesn’t have a lot of buying power is not a judgement it’s facts.

I’ve been broke as hell so I speak from the experience of someone who lived beyond their means and used debt to reach beyond it.

Sometimes in life you have to make sacrifices to get to a better place. If you’re in 2025 and you look at an additional $100 on a purchase and that’s too much to afford you aren’t living a sustainable life and it will catch up to you. Me saying it or not doesn’t change that. A simple emergency will wipe you out financially.

I guess it’s human to dress up being financially irresponsible though.

In a third world country hell yeah it's a lot of money. I'm talking about the United States of America. $100 is not a lot of money in the US. That's not an argument it's a fact.

The median household income is almost $81K. That means every 2 weeks they're bringing in Approx. $3100 before taxes. $100 is about 3.5% of 2 weeks pay before taxes. If life is that tight that 3.5% of 2 weeks of pay is going to derail you then you are in serious trouble.
