i think he's a clear example of an artist who came out too early

if he popped in the 2010's as opposed to the 2000's he would have ate good. maybe not kanye or travis scott level but as least lil b / danny brown level
He was super ahead of his time. In all aspects which is the truly crazy part.

Lyrically, musically, tech and industry wise, trend wise.

He was the 1st artist I ever heard promoting his website and digital downloads HARD. Basically how they do things today but casually throughout all social media.

On top of that, all this nerdcore and videogame thematic music now and how acceptable it is, he was on when it would...we'll get you punched in the mouth lol.

That staff development tape :wow:

Loved Charles as a artist but he was fukked up

he had one song on that shelved interscope album where he talked about getting raped by his pops and sharing the same name..probably shoulda sticked to beats he would still be around

The first time I heard of him was in London

The first song I heard might have been

That whole tape held me down my first Winter in Canada

Not sure I agree that he was completely unmarketable. Dude felt tailor made for the blog rapper era in some ways. His level of output was :leon:at a time when blogs were just pumping out content, as well. He might have been ahead of his time too. Early 10's puts him in a class with Odd Future and them. Late 10's makes him an alternative to cats like Griselda who have a release schedule similar to Charles'. Mental health is a motherfukker though.

I always felt his closest parallel was Cudi. Cudi just took the loner/ artsy vibe further in a different direction.
