All equipment is insured and any damage that was significant to warrant an insurance claim can’t have the deductible charged to employees of the company. No employee should be responsible for damage done to work equipment while at work and performing work duties. Incidental damage isn’t considered negligible. But anything is possible when folks are janky so I won’t say you’re wrong.
