the drawbacks are ex being in the picture so that can create drama and then you wanna go do something saturday night and she tied up, I mean if she's taking care of her kids then I commend her for that but staying in or not having that freedom to come and go.. that's not for me. 
Well think about it, his "best days" are behind him. She gave her "Best days" to another man. They both in the same boat now. When you older, its obviously more acceptable that you may as a childless man get with a woman with child.
But that should likely be circumstantial, last resort, she was cooler than the rest type situation. When you are at the age where most women have had kids, you choose the best of the bunch. What other choice do you have?

I was gonna curse you for that bullshyt statement you typed by as I read on I suspected you were also raised by a single mother and I was right. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. No one is a better or worse human being solely because their parent(s) situation.
But don’t try and say there is no difference in dating single mothers and childless mothers. It’s not about competing with a child, it’s called her having priorities, which should be her child. No single man with no kids should put himself in that situation.

1) Single women in their 30s with no kids exist. And no, not all of them are unwifable. Some either put their careers ahead of settling down, others might have been in long relationships in their 20s that didn't work out
2) Younger women aren't all their cracked up to be. A lot of women in their low to mid 20s don't wanna settle down, others are dumb/annoying as hell, and others will be bored with your old ass
