Never watched it before, mainly because it just seemed like more "mammy-ing" Hollywood black history movie.

I was on the Coli talking about the need for Madame CJ walker movie damn near 4 - 5 years ago, because it would be a refreshing look at the black experience on film based on a true story.

Make it 6 years ago.

Not saying it won't be interesting ........ but cotdamn ..... its like this is the thrust of the modern African American identity .... like nothing else matters ... music, sports, slavery, and contraband ... the African American experience

Where is the Madame C.J. Walker series...that would be crazy dope (damh) ... first black female millionaire (maybe first black overall) ........
Where is the George Washington Carver movie, negro making 100s of products out of cotdamn peanuts.... and all the strife he more than likely went through ...
Where is the black guy that went to the North Pole movie way back when
Etc .....

Finished watching it.
Interesting, painted a picture about domesticated black housekeepers and the families they worked for in Jim Crow South, and one rebel rousing white chick's attempt to tell their story.

Its about what I expected. I give it 6.5/10.
