Cheap labor. It's not a political issue it's a big business issue. Dems and Repubs fight in public over it but that's all theatre. Repub business owners use the hell out of them instead paying a fare wage. They take whatever job they can get and rely on each other

For example, how many times have you seen several Hispanic families living in the same house/apartment? Ten, twelve, fifteen deep

They live together, eat together which allows them to save whatever they make. They'll either put it together or just stack it to move out on their own

The Latin takeover in STEM is what people are not seeing. A lot of companies have been getting talent from Latin America all over STEM fields. My company is literally hiring full teams from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, etc.

Look at the official ABET site: a ton of traditional Engineering programs across Latin American Universities are now ABET-accredited, passing grades to give them the gold standard of American Engineering approval. Many of those programs are free to citizens btw and won’t place people in $100k student loan debt.
