They had a plan breh.

AK was linked to Lonzo Ball and obviously targeted him. The Bulls tried trading for him at the deadline that same year, and then signed him that off-season. (they even lost a pick for tampering to get him, that's how coveted he was to them).

The only PG they were rumored to be high on was Melo from what I remember. Patrick Williams was a high risk pick, but Haliburton was taken 12th so it's not like everybody saw him as this franchise PG. I think what they could have done was tried harder to trade down in that draft, but it takes 2 to tango.

And Chicago at the time, had a younger Coby White and a backup plan to get Lonzo if Coby wasn't ready.

It's easy to speak in hindsight now, but it is what it is.

That's why I said it's a league wide problem.

Because college players only play one year, it's hard to scout college games. And it seems like if a freshman doesn't enter they draft, something is wrong with them a la Mitchell.

Outside the first 2 or 3 picks teams don't know what the hell to do.

The knicks needed a PG. And even if you look at Barrett's game film, he wasn't worth the 3rd pick. They got him by default. THey made the easy choice.

And hell no, the Knicks can't scout for shyt.

Maybe NBA TEAMS need to start scouting at the high school level then.
