Criticism of the Knicks drafting is actually a decent point.
To review:
2004: Trevor Ariza (2nd round)
2005: Channing Frye, David Lee, Dijon Thompson (2nd round)
2006: Renaldo Balkman, Mardy Collins
2007: Wilson Chandler
2008: Danilo Gallinari
2009: Jordan Hill
2010: Andy Rautins, Landry Fields (both 2nd round)
2011: Iman Shumpert
2012: Kostas Papanikolaou (2nd round)
2013: Tim Hardaway
2014: Cleanthony Early, Thanasis Antetokounmpo (both 2nd round)
Not exactly good drafting by New York.
Gallinari and Chandler have been solid players, but for Denver.
David Lee turned out pretty well, but for Golden State, mostly.
Channing Frye? Meh...
Nothing against Gallinari but you look back and think that taking a risk on a foreign player like Gallinari when Brook Lopez went 10th to the Nets...but I guess that's what you get when D'Antoni is your coach.
It's also worth noting that the Knicks drafted Nene Hilario way back in 2002, but promptly traded him to Denver (with a still productive Marcus Camby, and Mark Jackson) for Antonio McDyess ...which was a complete and total disaster. In fact, can the Knicks just never trade with Denver again? Because it clearly never works out for them.
The Knicks figure to fall in the top 10 of the 2015 NBA draft...and they're so stupid, they'll probably draft another shooting guard.
Or maybe Phil Jackson will fix things.
