This all starts with Melo from the time he was first traded there. Instead of waiting and signing as a free agent his greed forced him to get traded and the Knicks gave up all of their young assets. Them with Galinari and Chandler would have at least made them a playoff team year in and year out in the East. Now he better hope that someone gets desperate and wants to go there with him in a year or two.

How many times do we have to go through with this. Melo STATED that he would've signed with the Nets that off season. If the Knicks didn't make that trade, ya'll STILL would've had some negative narrative on how they was stupid for not trading for Melo & letting him go to a divisional rival. And as much as I like Wilson Chandler, how has he & Gallo worked out for Denver. Gallo basically missed the past 2 seasons with injuries. While we made the playoffs every year with Melo, except for last year.

Remember when Knicks fans thought they were gonna get Steph Curry? They were outloud boasting about it.

Warriors came through :childplease: did you forget we draft before you?

:mjlol:

NY took Jordan Hill and missed DeMar Derozan and Brandon Jennings

To think all those Golden State Warriors championships could have been ours...

Criticism of the Knicks drafting is actually a decent point.

To review:

2004: Trevor Ariza (2nd round)
2005: Channing Frye, David Lee, Dijon Thompson (2nd round)
2006: Renaldo Balkman, Mardy Collins
2007: Wilson Chandler
2008: Danilo Gallinari
2009: Jordan Hill
2010: Andy Rautins, Landry Fields (both 2nd round)
2011: Iman Shumpert
2012: Kostas Papanikolaou (2nd round)
2013: Tim Hardaway
2014: Cleanthony Early, Thanasis Antetokounmpo (both 2nd round)

Not exactly good drafting by New York.

Gallinari and Chandler have been solid players, but for Denver.
David Lee turned out pretty well, but for Golden State, mostly.
Channing Frye? Meh...

Nothing against Gallinari but you look back and think that taking a risk on a foreign player like Gallinari when Brook Lopez went 10th to the Nets...but I guess that's what you get when D'Antoni is your coach.

It's also worth noting that the Knicks drafted Nene Hilario way back in 2002, but promptly traded him to Denver (with a still productive Marcus Camby, and Mark Jackson) for Antonio McDyess ...which was a complete and total disaster. In fact, can the Knicks just never trade with Denver again? Because it clearly never works out for them.

The Knicks figure to fall in the top 10 of the 2015 NBA draft...and they're so stupid, they'll probably draft another shooting guard.
Or maybe Phil Jackson will fix things.

Gallo/Lee/Chandler did their thing in NY or else no one would of wanted to trade for them.

Melo more than likely said that to get Denver to trade him to New York and to make NY give up all that Denver wanted to get done. If his heart was with the Knicks that's where he would have signed. And whose to say that Gallo and Chandler' careers wouldn't have been different if they had stayed with the Knicks. Gallinari would have shined and being a second or third option was what was best for him which is what he would have been with Melo and Stat there.

gallo wouldve been shipped off to new orleans for chris paul. the original plan was amare/melo/paul, the moment we had to ship off our remaining assets to denver, that dream died. :mjcry:

Denver made the playoffs every year without Melo, except for last year as well. Denver actually has a better record than the Knicks since the trade in the tougher conference with their fair share of injuries and upheaval. Beyond that, it wasn't an issue of Melo or those guys, it could've been Melo and those guys and greater cap flexibility as Amare could have been amnestied instead of Chauncey. If he was willing to go to the Nets for the same money then clearly he didn't really give a fukk about the Knicks and thusly I'm not sure why Knicks fans would feel the need to continue to :cape: for him.

The Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets are advancing on another complicated multiteam trade proposal that would likely fit Carmelo Anthony’s(notes) criteria for signing a contract extension with the Nets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Anthony is inclined to accept a trade and contract extension with New Jersey over his preferred choice of New York only if the Nets are able to bring back a package of significant talent with him, league sources involved in the talks said on Monday.

So far, there are trade scenarios that include a combination of Anthony’s Denver teammates – including forward Al Harrington(notes) – and other league players coming to the Nets.

The Nets have proceeded for months under the conviction Anthony would agree to sign with them. If he opts for free agency, he would risk a smaller payday under the new collective bargaining agreement and would lose $18 million in guaranteed money next season.

Anthony's preference has been to be dealt to the Knicks, but their offers have reportedly underwhelmed Denver, and the Nuggets' counter-proposal this week was deemed too steep by Knicks president Donnie Walsh.
