They needed to fill the hole that AD left given they didn't have any quality big men. They couldn't run out the rest of the season with just Hayes. Besides, I don't know what AD was crying about when there's only one center in the West who he had to worry about. And the only other center that's fukking with him in the East is on a team that's basically no chance of making the Finals (largely because he can't stay on the floor).

If the Lakers had avoided the bogeyman in Denver the last two playoffs, AD would've had his way with every other frontcourt, and there'd be none of this begging for help.
