An emotional Mercedes discusses the women's division

It’s gonna eventually get there with Toni and Mercedes both having long title runs simultaneously but AEW has done well keeping both extremely active and relevant and as a result maintain their popularity. When that drops then it’s time to move the belts around and next year should be properly built up

They are doing more things now like having Thekla and Aminata feuding across shows to build up the other women. Or Willow involved with Marina and now Stat again. It's important that they keep giving women air time even when there isn't a belt on the line.

Something I have noticed while watching interviews with TK. And not just to compare with WWE or any company. But how much this guy loves to market his product and marketing is very important. He does these interviews often when they go to big media markets with like radio hosts and people like that. I know he did one recently while in NY I believe.

But every question or damn near every one he's marketing his product. Ask him some random question and he's gonna throw in there how Dynamite is on TBS on Wednesdays and Collision is on TNT on Saturdays. Plus streaming on MAX. He's constantly getting that point out there. It sounds repetitive but when you own a business, marketing and word of mouth is everything. You keep hearing about something and will be like damn maybe I'll check this out if they keep mentioning it.

Also good to see Mercedes talk about the women's division. I do feel that they have a strong division. Hopefully we can see more of that global impact like we did with the two that came in for FD. I know it's tough to do prolly but let's say she has a title defense at an indie show coming up in a few days, what if he opponent comes out on like a Dynamite to confront her and the announcers hype up the match? Be like oh that's so and so from random indie company who will be facing Mercedes for their women's title this weekend, something like that. Give the other company some shine so they can get the promotion. Fans of that company would be excited that one of their stars was on a major wrestling show. But def excited for the future of the division and hopefully they can keep building up the people they have. TK was right when he said the division past year has been way stronger than when it first started.

Yeah, you can tell TK has been media trained to death, which makes sense considering all the businesses he's involved in.

The thing with Tony is that he's just an awkward/nerdy guy so he comes off robotic or unnatural in a most of his appearances. For every natural answer he gives, there's 10 others were he sounds like a tape recorder :heh: but I totally agree with your main point. He always does what a promoter should do: promote his product and make it as clear as possible at to where/when/how you can watch it and how awesome/successful/big it is.

He always has people in the "wrestling media" coming at him for one reason or another. It's usually because he didn't give them a job like the Bischoff and Cornette types.

But even a miserable guy like Brandon Thurston will come out and say "Tony is lying, the ratings are down" but he will mislead whoever reads the posts by not acknowledging when the 'Dynamite' show moved to a simulcast on HBO. Even if the numbers on TBS were down slightly, that likely means that MORE people are watching than before when HBO MAX is factored in. That's what Tony is saying.

Tony sometimes has to refute those types of reports but at the same time he's done a better job with it and he never mentions WWE ever. His stance of "I'm focused on what we are doing" is the best thing he's done.

Yep, glad he has stopped taking the bait and is focusing on his own company. Also happy someone took his phone away so he doesn't go full twitter fingers.

He should have been trained to death after the backlash from the Swole tweets.

TK can't let another Vaquer incident happen and get a deal signed with Persephone. Prolly easier than Bozilla due to logistics. She can even do both.

Pretty sure CMLL tightened things up after that so they didn't have a similar contract situation come up again.

Respectfully, if it wasn't for Mercedes bumping and selling for Bozilla and Persephone the way that she did, they would not be on my radar. Those two looked legit :whoo:

High-key that's what this run is all about for her - despite what the weirdos say, she's not going out squashing these girls. She's going out to their home markets, letting them get ALL their shyt in, making them look like they deserve to be on her level and then usually sneaking a victory with a veteran or underhand move.

All these girls are legit now because Mercedes lets them throw her around and she sells like a mf for all of them.

And when someone from each of those promotions has to take their belt back off her? :whoo:

I saw someone on Twitter the other day trying to shyt on her saying they would've never heard of any of the titles if Mercedes hadn't won them, like that's exactly the fukking point. Now you have. Now they mean more. :why:
