This is bullshyt. They were purposely dodgy and last minute in announcing when and where it was gonna be aired. People bought tickets for a big stadium show, downgrading it to a collision with 2 matches announced is a disgrace especially without taking care of the fans who stupidly bought tickets early

This whole thing has been a mess.

Some of the problem is shared blame though. You can’t control what people are going to say and what their expectations are going to be but you can certainly help mold and steer it.

Grand Slam has never been a PPV before, and it was never advertised as a PPV.

Fans just logically assumed it would be more than a long TV special (supposed to be more than 2 hours per SRS) since it was originally booked for a stadium because why the fukk would they international AND to a stadium just for a tv taping even if it is more than just a tv taping?

AEW should have been upfront about it being a tv special if it was always planned to be that way though.

Never should have gone to Australia to begin with.

If you’re dead set on going to Australia, don’t put it in the most remote major city on the east coast.

Airing it in tape delay like 18 hours after it starts, and at 10:30 eastern on a Saturday, is just fukking stupid. You’re asking fans to stay off the internet the whole fukking day to try to avoid spoilers. It’s 2025, that is entirely unreasonable. I’ll be lucky if I can even stay awake to watch the whole thing when it first airs.

And yeah sure the TV ratings at the beginning are going to be big because of the lead-in, but it’s going to fall off a cliff pretty quickly. And on Max there isn’t going to be any lead-in from NBA All Star Saturday coverage because that’s not how it works on there.

Not airing it live on Max while giving people the opportunity to watch it at their leisure throughout the day is even fukking stupider. This should have been looked at by WBD as a business opportunity to drive growth of Max. Instead that opportunity is going to be wasted.

Meanwhile on an AEW discord I’m on all I said it was stupid how it won’t air live on Max and we have to wait 18 hours to see it because its unreasonable to expect your audience to stay off the internet all day to avoid spoilers

They said I was being ridiculous and nitpicky. fukking pussies.

Same deal with Collision when they did it in the UK before All In last year - was really frustrating knowing Collision was happening at a sociable hour for the UK but we were still going to have to wait until after the US to watch it.

It's apparently because TBS/TNT have first broadcast rights for Dynamite and Collision. They can simulcast on Max but I don't think they can make it available ahead of the TV broadcast.

I do wonder how many tickets they'll move with the venue change. I read that they already offering 2 for 1s.

Both the Japanese and Australian shows ended up being as messy as they seemed when they were first announced :dead:

Whole thing seems a bit of a mess - I hope they can get out from under it to have a good show. I believe it was never meant to be a PPV given the name they gave it, but I'm sure if they'd sold out the original stadium they would've revised that.

When they changed venues they should've taken the chance to clarify exactly what the event was.

Given all that it's still a travesty Australians haven't bought more tickets to see Toni. :birdman:

The face that he’s wasting Toni/Mariah rematch on this show solely because she’s from that part of the world :snoop:

Makes it even funnier when you find out Toni is from New Zealand :pachaha:
