That's a great number. That's gotta be another million dollar gate as well :ehh:

On the other side though, the U.S crowd is still slow on hopping on the bandwagon again. St. Louis shows have normally struggled like a mofo for AEW and specially WrestleDream has always been a hard sell as a PPV.

Maybe they should scrap it for next year and just let that date rest so Full Gear can get a bigger push (sorta like what they do with Revolution). But who knows, perhaps they make a profit with PPV regardless of live attendance?

It's also 3 months out with 2 different PPV's taking place between now and Wrestledream. Not really a surprise IMO

I thought they were going back to St Louis for PPV almost specifically because Dynasty did well there last year? That venue is a secondary one in St Louis like AEW run in most places. 6600 in a 10,000 seater
It was the least attended PPV last year and the only sub 9k in like 2 years for the company. Both Dynasty and WrestleDream struggled mightily up until the last 2 weeks before the show IIRC, they were in the 4-5k reign for the longest.

We've seen how both FD and All Out did in their advanced sales. It just shows you that interest in the U.S isn't fully there yet, specially in a secondary market like St. Louis.

Eh - the 6600 they drew to STL is a much more impressive number than the 7000 they drew to Orlando for Worlds End for a few reasons. I think in context Dynasty was a a very successful show for them and is why they're going back.

World's End was during the holidays, in warm Orlando, their alleged home market and the home base of pro wrestling in the U.S. since the WWE moved there, in an arena that's near metro Orlando literally on a college campus of the biggest University in the United States. A city that has hosted several successful WrestleManias in the last decade - a market that's also has the Royal Rumble in a stadium show in Tampa etc.

That's an okay number in a slam dunk town while AEW is building something out of nothing in STL solely because it's a historic territory that's been ignored

I mean it's only 400 people difference so it ain't worth going back and forth on it, for all we know those 400 were comps :heh:

I'm just highlighting the difference between the U.S and overseas as a market for the company. With only 2.3k sold in this advance, if they get to 6.6k again by bell time it would certainly feel like a W.

I feel like they could get 7k if it gets proper marketing and a decent card, maybe even higher. Did decent last time with Dynasty so let's see. They need to open up the cheap seats as early as possible.

Def a big difference between US and overseas. Especially since overseas doesn't get shows as often as US does so they are more inclined to attend.

Don't see it as a major show, one of their low level ppv, so can see why they not going to a bigger city or venue. I also don't expect much tourism to the city. Nobody crazy like I was. More likely people travel to bigger ones like London and Toronto. Not many US residents will likely travel to St Louis and the international travelers are even less likely with all the crazy shyt going on in the country overall. Will have to see how the updates go, still early, and if the shows are consistent enough to get them to have a decent attendance number.

I feel you - I'm just talking the difference in St. Louis and Orlando in markets. Even though they drew about the same Worlds End is a bit of a flop but Dynasty is a huge achievement.

I actually think they're cooling off on the North/ Central Florida market this year after a few disappointing houses.

Was just seeing the video of Mercedes having a moment with Diana Strong, her opponent in Poland, and showing each other some love after the match. Was thinking about Mercedes and Forbidden Door, especially since it's in London. A great idea that I have. What if she has matches on the Dynamite in Glasgow and then at the O2. But like on Dynamite she can have a match for the RevPro title and then on FD have like a fatal fourway for the TBS title and give a few of those unknown international stars a chance to shine. Or could be reverse or maybe just on Dynamite or FD. But featuring a few of those unknown international stars around an event that celebrates what she's doing by going thru a Forbidden Door would be a nice gesture & potentially help build some future partnerships between AEW and those companies outside of Mercedes. She obviously gonna retain the TBS title and can defend it at All Out but with FD being a special event, no reason why it can't be outside challengers.

There's no real selling point to 'WrestleDream' it happens at a weird time of year. Honestly, they'd probably do better rebranding it as a Halloween special. But, yeah it'll definitely be profitable. They'll get people in there even with a late push and the PPV will still do ~100,000 PPV buys or more because of the match quality you're promised.

I'm assuming she'll work both shows and you're right, they probably will have at least one outside challenger for her. I'd prefer to see them forge more of a partnership with STARDOM and see Mercedes vs. Starlight Kid or something like that.

Yes, there won't be a lot of story to it but those two could steal the show if given time.

i like the halloween idea tho they doing the fright night dynamite thing or at least they did last year so lets see if that continues. i feel that they can still do a ppv just as a different name, not to say use the halloween havoc name or anything like that since they cant. they made wrestledream for Inoki but see no need to keep using it for him. dont think he was even mentioned last year. maybe they should just make it the Blood and Guts event. And not to give any ammo to the WWE fans, but have a battle royal, can use both rings, where winner gets a title shot at Full Gear. B&G can go well with a Halloween type of theme especially in marketing. plus it removes it as a dynamite episode and puts it on a bigger stage.

The original selling point was to celebrate the passing of Inoki but that only made it the first show. The best part about AEW schedule is they aren't running 12 a year. Halloween Hell or some fantasy booking league ass ppv title.
