I'm far from a know it all, don't know everything, am ignorant when it comes to many thing (everyone is ignorant about something) but looking at the YouTube comments on gentification going on in Brooklyn neighborhoods, new Jersey and etc, many people are sadly uneducated about racism in this country and how the system is designed. It's no coincidence. Same for classism and economics.
The thing is that there's this attitude of admitting to not knowing something or being ignorant is frowned on or shameful. So this leads to someone being proud of their ignorance where they are proud of being stuck in the limits they chose to impose on themselves. There is no way you can grow like that and that's one of the purposes of life is, to grow. Sometimes, situations arise which forces people to have to challenge their stubbornness to let go of their pride of their ignorance challenging them to grow. Don't see why that is. It's okay to admit or to be aware that you don't know everything or may not be informed on something because that will prompt you to want to learn or understand it. You can never know too much because as time goes on, history is always being made so there's always things new to learn. You learn something new everyday that you're alive, it's that it may not be important to you or something you think is important.
I feel that in with the hipster culture. It actually is fake as in promotes a flux open minded mentality under the guide of certain aspects of alternative lifestyle and culture being taken, modernized in a way that makes it comfortable for the westerner intellectual suburban person who doesn't have to deal with the reality of living in the city. Same thing with the pseudo, flux intellectualism that is constantly displayed in the liberalism, actorvism and etc associated with people in these crowds and circles. If you challenge these people intellectually and question their political views, you will see that a lot of these people are ignorant towards what they constantly speak or post about on Facebook. If these people were to be quizzed on the negative and positive effects of policies under the administration of Obama or bush, they would more than likely fail. They would rather argue and deny their ignorance than to admit that shyt and learn about what something is.
