It's throughly entrenched. You're probably so used to hearing it that you no longer notice
No one around me says it then again, I'm not around as much people as I used to. Hell, folks don't even use slang like that anymore or let alone talk hood. Nowadays if you talk hood or ghetto to anybody even the hood folks, they all look at you like
it's not cool anymore. That hood shyt is played out. Now it's cool to be geeky or at least act like you're intelligent or have smarts which is a good thing. There's a lot of wanna be intellectuals out there now fronting trying way too hard to seem smarter than what they are when their actions and even words if you listen closely say otherwise. Back then if you came off like a bookworm, you were getting clowned or wasnt cool period. The whole hipster trend changed all that now. Either that or I'm just getting old which makes a difference in terms of what's seen as trendy because I'm not all that concerned about fitting in or being down with what's cool or being accepted by other people anymore though my confidence and self esteem are still low. Maturity really changes the perception of certain things.

you should know the jest of whole "talking black", "talking white" thing by now.

I've been around all types of black folks and I can't relate
I'm good. Just read that as him implying that if a black person isn't "talking black" or understand the whole casual rap hip hop talk that they are one of the "new blacks" which isn't true.
