The Multiverse
Rereading Narrative by Frederick Douglass...

He was so incredibly gifted as a writer/speaker. The sentences are so illustrative and flow so poetically.

His recounts of everyday life as a slave are so infuriating and heartbreaking...and they show just how strong our ancestors were to have made it through that shyt. Slavery was so fukking unspeakably barbaric and inhumane.

When he talks about being taken away from his mother (and how it was common practice to separate mother from baby)...And how his mother only saw him a handful of times, after walking miles to see him, at night...after working the fields all day, just to hold him for a few moments, and having to return back before daylight else she be whipped...this shyt really got to me and just hurts my heart as a new parent especially. :mjcry:

When he talks about the spirituals that they used to sing...:mjcry: I simply cannot do it justice by attempting to describe how poetic and somber this chapter is. Beautifully written...

When he talks about the living conditions...
:mjcry:

When he talks about the cruelty of the "masters":mjcry:

When he talks about the beatings, whilpings, the killings...:mjcry:

OK, I'm about to go cry now and read some more.

Love y'all.

Know that you can make it through any hardship. Our ancestors sure did.
