We've Seen So Many Things Come And Go On The Internet, The Fads Eventually Die Off And The Good Ideas Evolve Into Multi Million Dollar Businesses, But Message Boards Are Still About Having An Avatar And Hitting The "Post" Button

I think message boards are closer to "real" interaction than any other form of social media. You have the ability to involve yourself in more conversations and different topics than you do with like facebook or something else. You're also not limited to just the people you befriend on a message board.
