Kept forgetting to go check out Governors Island this summer and checked it out last week, kind of disappointed. They moved most of the stuff away from the field that has the Commanding Officer's House (and they were all closed) and all that stuff was moved to 315.
Kind of ironic that I found an exhibit that was based on bringing art concepts to life from initial drawing to the final when the 4Heads exhibit had all the studios closed, which was a far cry from last year when I'd be there from time to time chatting it up with some of the artists and actually watching the pieces develop, even having cookies and having conversations and all that. Guess I'll have to check them out anyway now that they're actually open for the month.
Interesting that they also have an "Occupy" exhibit. Didn't even know that and I passed by Zucotti on the way there and it was looking like a completely normal park. I didn't remember that it actually started in mid-September, seemed a LOT longer.
I don't know if it was just that weekend, but the whole island was a lot quieter than any other day I visited last year. Probably a result of all that shuffling.
