Can the race card actually play in your favor?
I will admit, I have been thinking about this as I continue with my journey into finally getting that recognition I feel I deserve as a producer and artist of almost 20 years.
But I ask this coli friends....is it possible to stand out even more in something where you aren't really in abundance?
I think this will prove to be fruitful. It's like, look at Kaytranda, look at Flying Lotus, these are two people who heavily influence where I am trying to be as an artist today and they seemingly broke through this barrier, but what if there really wasn't one?
There's nothing seperating me from the fans of my art and music with social media and the internet, people can connect with me like that. I aim to be more confrontational, but also professional in my demeanor cause I'm very passionate about my craft and aim to present quality representations of black art and black artists on a grand scale by being knowledgeable and relatively conscious.
This is why I like doing electronic music as supposed to just doing hip-hop or R&B or whatever. I always like people like Jeff Mills and Derrick May and Juan Atkins cause msucially they are moreso architects of a sound based future that we are currently living in. To be a responsible musician, or artist, one must realize the state of the world they are living in and what leads to the current popular narrative that is digested by the masses (those that are receiving it the most and arent obscured by any other outliers).
So, I type that down just to discuss how I feel at this point.

I'm good. Just fantasizing.
