Why should they care about anything other than the money

Respect for teachers and their role in society is at an all-time low, and has been down for years

We just had a thread where nikkas was telling stories about messing with teachers during class/having altercations with them.....half the stories didn't even have the teacher doing anything in particular to start the shyt, yet they still got daps and laughs

And the reason why teachers don't normally intervene in classroom fights is because they can get sued, fired, and/or hurt by a student....even for just trying to stop the fight

this. you go to other countries teachers get treated with mad respect. they got real status :whew:

and it's it's mainly from adults. administrators and business people have no respect for teachers. :martin:

they need/deserve to be paid like pro athletes/oil barons/politrickians/etc ad nauseam, and they don't een get a living wage in some of the richest areas of the world..

of course there has to be a passion, but you can't expect them to work miracles in dens of inequity, huge classes,no resources, violence, and you expect them to all be Lean On Me/Dangerous Mind esque:troll:

it will never be fixed under this current OWG regiment,so let it all crumble..

:manny:

Everybody says that until it's time to raise taxes.
The us should cut their military budget and put all that towards education. But that'd never happen either. The US has propaganda scared itself into always having the "fear" of being attacked. And the lower educated populate the military

they're already suffering if they're in the public school system..

so,in that sense why should the 'privileged' kids in private/catholic schools get 2 legs up on them..? just because their mommy/daddy has more resources..? why isn't your tax/lottery money going to fix the public education system..?

i'm not a sadist, but if we have to struggle/suffer anyways why not destroy the current regime that is not going to change..? then rebuild it in a better system built from the bottom up,rather then trickle down/top to bottom..

or should these kids just keep working service/barista/slave jobs in permanent debt forever..?

:jbhmm:
True, however I think we should work towards reforming the system and not completely destroy it. Trust me, the kids will get the sh-t end of the stick with that.

Some kids bring behavior problems & lack of respect for teachers & learning. So it's understandable that some teachers can care less

While I don't excuse the behavior, SOME of these kids come from broken homes and are caught up in the system. Remember, you have to go to the ROOT of the problem. I remember when I watched Freedom Writers with Hilary Swank years ago. It was basically a teacher who didn't give up on students who were incapable of learning.

deedni, everything you stated is on point like a capstone sir..

and the irony is these same privileged muhfukkas will complain about the stupidity/inefficacy of poor people, make racist&prejudiced comments, and bytch about the country's failings, but will do nothing to change it,and mindlessly pax their taxes that fix nothing mentioned above,so they're essentially a hamster running in place on a rusted/dirty wheel..:sas2:

having fun yet..?

Let's stop using straw-mans. Also, this doesn't just go for Black kids I mean all POC and some Whites. If WE the parents get more involved there could be a reform. Us, the adults (I don't have kids) would become involved in our kid's lives things could change. Remember, we all have to put in effort.

this pretty much

I don't know where people get this idea that teachers are supposed to be these saintly creatures that are supposed to embrace and love students that are disrespectful and obviously don't give two fukks about learning(probably from lifetime movies)

'b-b-b-but they come from a broken home:sadcam::sadbron:'

Most teachers come in wanting to change the world. 5 years in, they really stop caring. Realize that nothing they do is going to change a lot of these kids. Seen it happen. Hell, even my mom who taught for 20 years was done at the end. She hates kids now. :russ:
