Pac Biggie Jay and Nas... After that its a matter of opinion

Eminem though :dahell:

Are we 12 again? :heh:

Lyrical Legends like Rakim & kool g rap vouched for em & their opinion about it definitely holds more weight than a common messageboard poster :yeshrug:

Krs-One is definitely one of my all-time favorites MC's, no question about it.He would probably be in my top 10 GOAT list as well, even over eminem, But i could understand if he wasn't ranked in an overall top 10 goat list more so than eminem

Now if we're talking about a mandatory list of GOAT ALBUMS, then he would have at least one on there (unlike eminem)

Krs 1,kool g rap,cube,Kane,slick rick,ghostface>>>em

Kool G rap is a goat lyricists, but he lacks everything else needed to qualify for overall goat status..same for BDK..

Slick got a GOAT album, but thats it.

Ghost put enough work in to be listed among the greats thou, i wouldnt list him, but i can respect it.

Due to the abundance of uninspiring and just flat out wack rappers of todays hiphop scene, I'd say the Top 10 list is pretty much set in stone.I say pretty much because i believe its 7 rappers that has undoubtedly made their mark on the culture to the point where they must be included in the top 10 GOAT list..doesnt matter in what order you rank them either, they just have to be somewhere on the list.

And the mandatory 7 is(not in order):

Tupac
Biggie
Nas
Jay-Z
Scarface
Rakim
Eminem

The other three m.c's are interchangable.
take out Eminem and biggie

I've never bought or even had an actual eminem album, but from what i've heard(as in songs i listened to), its no possible way you can deny that man a mandatory slot on the list

Musical preferences are subjective so everybody's list is gonna be different. That said, I stopped listening to Em's music after the MMLP which is still a classic record to me. After that, his shtick got old. As far as "spitters" with deals go, I think he's top 5 with no debate, nothing to discuss as his pen game is just that good. I'll never forget driving with some friends and having the Rawkus compilation playing and his track came on and my man who was a real street dude who only listened to raw sh!t paused and said this dude is nice. He was and still is occassionally mind blowing the way he puts bars together.

Still though, the reason I can't put him in my own personal top 5-7 lists is his subject matter, or lack thereof. After the MMLP record he never recorded anything that I could feel, or relate to, or even attempt to try and understand. It was just too immature and repetitive and that's saying something to be a signed emcee looking to maintain commercial appeal via shock value.

Impact is a MAJOR factor for a goat list thou..thats the main reason why i think Rakim HAVE to be on the list

im not even that big of a fan of emenim's music truthfully, but i still can't deny him as one of the goats
Impact is the only truly objective measure and probably the only factor that should be considered when making these lists

Something else too, I question Biggie being on top 5-7 lists at times. Again, it's all subjective, so your list is your list as mine will be mine. As much I appreciate BIG, his grossly untimely death makes it difficult if not impossible IMO for him to be put within lists containing artists who have catalogues spanning multiple years of output.
