Just got out of the theater. It was aggressively mid. Was expecting more cuz of the reviews.

Heart Eyes, Companion
Yeah I was iffy about going to see this tonight already so I’m probably holding off until I can stream it.

I’m halfway through Companion which I’ll finish tonight, but it’s been pretty mid so far.

I’m trying to think of whether I’ve seen anything that looks really intriguing this year for horror, but my favorite film from last year (The Substance) wasn’t even really on my radar even after seeing the first trailer.

Even calling it a horror-comedy is kinda unfair. It's a comedy that's shot in the style Longlegs. Some of the deaths were straight-up Looney Tunes gags. Some scenes got me laughing pretty hard. But I agree that it was nothing special.

Feel the same way as I did with Longlegs where I thought it was solid, but definitely could’ve been better. Wish it embraced being more of a full-on comedy because the family drama was not doing it for me. The family drama being something that I’ve seen tackled so many times in film. Oz wants it both ways again here and that messed up the flow of the movie IMO.

I do think the tone stays consistent throughout tho. Some of the humor in Longlegs felt misplaced and lended itself better in something like this. Love that it does not shy away from the gore in all its absurd glory.

I like Theo a lot, but I’m just not a fan of the twin approach with the same actors when the story is subpar. It’ll also be…three flicks within the next two months to do the same with their leads between this, Mickey 17, and Sinners. The latter two I’m still really excited for.

His portrayal of Bill here definitely reminded me of the cancelled James Franco tho. :pachaha:

And I wish we had more of Tatiana in this. But her limited screen-time in this still trumps whatever the hell Marvel had her doing in She-Hulk. She’s supposedly starring in Oz’s next flick later this year, so I hope it kicks ass.

Didn't like the comedy aspect of it. Could have been great without it personally.
